I logged in to post about the Official launch but you beat me :x
Anyways holloween to aug. 27th.... 10 months personally i don't think everyone will come back, but here's hoping!
im not sure if its worth 70-80$ for the collector edition of a game i already own hmm....

EDIT: so i watched that tour video, never show enough of new limsa, and they radically changed bloodshore into a resort town, not sure how i feel about that.

The numbers for the beta have been huge so I don't know why you would think everyone won't come back. I mean everyone.. no of course but the new members will make up for any losses from 1.0 and ps3 version as well. I'm buying the ps3 CE but since I have 1.0 CE on pc I already get all the items when game launches. Can't wait.. will be well worth the money every month.

I didn't mean it like that Vicious, when i said i don't think everyone will come back i didn't mean for SE sake, i was thinking more along the lines of everyone i knew in game before.

I have the normal edition, at the time.. garlond googles seemed alot more useful in the long run then to start 1 week early when mmos usually have alot of lag anyways at launch. that release date note mentions a "Collector's Edition Digital Upgrade Service" sounds useful to me if i don't buy the collectors edition. I don't really see a reason to do both it says you can dual box without needing multiple accounts, that's awfully nice of them.

The only advantage to preordering a new version of the game would be to get the Cait Sith pet and the Mog Hat. That's the only way you can get those items. There's also the thing where if you're not Legacy that pre-ordering will give you early access. If you don't care about them and want the other CE items, you can just do an upgrade on your account.

Despite the couple areas that look more resort-like (Bronze Lake hot springs and Bloodshore beach resort) the changes look really nice regardless. You barely recognize the areas outside of the towns now.

I'm pretty excited to see Fernehawles there with Yoshi-P. I really like his witty writing style and am interested to see how he handles himself in person. :)

sorry for the delete above.. info was outdated.

Not sure if this was posted but just a run down of some basic information.. most which we already know.. some I did not yet. It's a little old cause they announced the release date but anyways:

- The third (of four) beta testing phases will begin this June. This will also include the PlayStation 3 version of the game.
- The game will release this summer “when it’s hot”, perhaps ruling out September. They may be able to announce a date next month.
- In addition to 110 tracks by Masayoshi Soken, the game will have music by Nobuo Uematsu and feature a few tracks by Naoshi Mizuta after launch.
- The game will support AMD Crossfire and Nvidia SLI.
- A class that uses muskets (Musketeer?) will be available to players in the future.
- In-game weather reports are planned, but may not make it in for launch.
- Time limits (time attack) on dungeons will likely be reserved for Free Company ranking purposes.
- Minfilla returns as an important character.
- The team plans to release content post-launch on a quickly basis.
- Primals’ themes (background music) will be different but they may have the same motif.
- Phase 3 will introduce Level Sync, which will allow high level players to scale themselves down to do content at lower levels with friends. Stats on your gear will scale accordingly.
- Companions other than chocobos are planned, such as Magitek armor units.
- No Player Kill aka “non-consensual PvP”.
- Monks can chain together certain abilities to increase damage output, but there is a risk involved.
- Fat Chocobo will make an appearance in a post-launch patch.
- A salon is planned post launch where players will be able to change their apperance (i.e. hair).
- Players who buy the Collector’s Edition will get an in-game helm based off of the Warrior of Light in Final Fantasy — players who bought the Version 1.0 CE will also get this.
- Free Company headquarters will have multiple floors and members will be able to share items and gil with the appropriate permissions.
- Battle Regimen has become the Limit Break system. It will be available in Phase 3 but in a limited capacity.
- The smartphone companion app will be ready by Phase 4.
- The two second global cooldown may be shortened.
- Hiroshi Minagawa (UI designer) has revamped features of the user interface for Phase 3.
- The team is unsure if Cutter’s Cry and Aurum Vale will be available in Phase 4.
- Character progress in Phase 3 will be wiped when testing completes.
- Darklight gear will return for A Realm Reborn.
- The team wants to implement a feature on the new Lodestone where people can read up on the game’s lore as well as an in-game place to learn more.
- The Arcanist class will likely be debuted at E3.
- New informational videos detailing the game’s systems will come later next month around the time of the next trailer.
- Shiva is planned to be implemented after Ramuh and Leviathan.
- Opening videos for the city-states will have voice acting in Phase 3.

Hey guys, I was wondering if I could get some help here about the new AAR and previous owners of the game.

I purchased a used CE version of the game in October of 2010, played it for a week, and forgot about it after that. I have the Square-Enix account information from the previous owner, which is what I had to use in order to play the game. I can look in the Square Enix Account Management and find the Active Service Account for FFXIV still.

Will this be enough to ensure that I will be able to download ARR when it becomes available as a free client download to all previous owners?

I know there is very limited information out right now about this stuff, but I just wanted to make sure that I would be able to try out the reboot.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello and welcome to DoL!

As far as I see... it's no different from myself. I bought the CE edition when the game came out and that guarantees me everything that they have mentioned for previous CE owners with a SE account. I am also a legacy member but that is different from the CE thing.

This link Oro posted pretty much sums it all up:

http://lodestone.finalfa...118dccb8cd96bf81c212957d

Upcoming beta server names announced. Notice that Masamune is JP server on that list for those of us like Kida who play on there but it's beta so idk if that is going to change. You can still play on there but it just means the locale of your server like for me being in the US isn't efficient.

JP Group servers are in Japan, NA/EU Group servers are in America, except those marked "(EU)

If these are permanent then I can't stay on Masa if it means my server will be across the globe..sigh and it seems they will be from the initial reaction on xivpads.

Whaaaaaaaaaat

I r disappoint.

My server is going to be a JP server so I guess I'll be moving off of it. I'm in a pretty decent sized linkshell so I don't know where we're going to end up yet though. Folks over on the BG forums seem to be leaning towards Excalibur, but I don't want to go to a server where a bunch of other people are going and then it end up being full and my LS gets stranded. I'm probably going to stay away from Balmung as well since that's the unofficial RP server.

So, yeah my fear came true Ridill is jp(not surprised since it was like the most popular server), not sure what i'm going to do about that.I played mostly solo but still there's one person i really want to be on the same server as not sure how to contact him though, he hasn't answered my random lodestone comments on his blogs in months.

SE didn't make it very clear what were eu and what were na servers really, but i guess it doesn't matter

I thought that blog post was pretty clear though on what is what Koroma. If Balmung is rp then I won't be doing that either. Not that I have an issue with rp but just not necessary population wise. Rather it be non rp/regular players.

Hmmm.. where to go then. Without a ls/company and I have a couple buddies following. Guess I'll find out later. Sorry about not finding your friend ^ If we end up on the same server holler at me^^ For now I have to keep my regular account and then I'm going to change his race when that is available.

If not then I'll end up making a new account..idk. I'll have to stay on Masa for now though cause 1.0's can't switch yet during this beta phase I think and my buddies since they are new will have to follow me when game starts. I wonder if I made a new account then I wouldn't be able to follow them later on huh to a legacy server. crap..

I hate my elf that's why I'm not interested in playing it but would lose a lot of xp/time.

I wish I knew how much of Balmung actually was RP in 1.0. It's looking like that's where I'll be headed, and I don't RP any.

I originate from Ridill as well.

I think having read some threads in some other forums that my LS might end up on Excalibur after all. Going by xivpads numbers, it was actually in between some of the other servers population wise, and I'm reading that people are going to be transferring off of it for various reasons. Sargatanas had the most registered people, followed by Balmung, Excalibur and Hyperion. We were kind of leaning towards Hyperion, but I think we want to be on a server that was at least at medium population.

So i was reading the official forum and they cleared some things up... all na/eu data servers are the same 1 data center, well that clears up my confusion, stupid but clears up my confusion.

SE hasn't said where it is but some seem to think its SE newish data center in Montreal canada, i tested the ping to http://www.square-enix-montreal.com/ since i'm not sure how else to test it was 34-38 ms which is a pretty huge improvment if i decide to move.

Well that kinda sucks. I was looking forward to a EU data center, doesn't make any difference here between japan or NA :/

Really in that case you just have to decide if you want to be on a server with any friends and plus the fact unless you speak jp.. you'll be on a jp server with very little english speaking people I would assume but no way to tell for sure.

Here is a thread discussing servers some:
http://forum.square-enix...re-specific-please/page7

For those unaware how to ping to see what returns you get (people looking for less lag, faster ms):

https://pingler.com/blog...ually-ping-ip-addresses/

For example this guy posted:

From splat in the middle of the UK:

ping 184.107.107.176 (montreal)
average = 117ms

ping 202.67.53.202 (japan)
average = 268ms

(59ms for me to montreal, 166 to Japan so obviously I won't stay on Masa and neither would most of my buddies here in the states so goodbye Masa for sure whenever they allow us to switch)

Looks like some info was updated to be more clear but if I'm right we all have a SE account which we can register up to 8 codes that come with your game right.. and then we all have a service account in order to play the game.

So, if I want to dual box on my pc I only need my current service account.. if I want to play ps3 and pc same time I can do it under my current SE account but I'll need to setup a new "service" account for ps3 otherwise I can't log on both same time? As much as I enjoyed having 2 accounts running on the same pc/desktop in different windows on ffxi.. I think I'm probably gonna setup a ps3...plus when and if it moves to ps4 I'll have that.

I'm taking this from here:
http://support.jp.square...225&id=5382&la=1
