Anyone able to point me to some grade 4 areas to fish? I found Grade 5 & 6 but cannot find 4. Thx. Edit: I found one near Ul'dah, SE of Camp Horizon. There's a spearfishing location near it as well. Edited by user Sunday, October 03, 2010 4:57:35 PM(UTC)

I found one near Cedarwoods near Limsa Lominsa (32,32) but I tried a bunch of different kind of baits and lures and nothing bit.
Is anything biting where you found your grade 4 pool? Grade 3 fishing skill points is getting a little low per catch.

I've still got the Ash Fishing Rod since I haven't found any others yet. I used that and moth pupa and was able to get crayfish only. It stinks but the xp was good. I got 150ish sp and 600 xp. There's also a pool in side a cave around there that is Grade 4.

I'm rank 17 and just left the grade 3 pond north east of horizin, and headed to the one far south east of horizon, which is also just a little south of the crystal Nophica's Wells
the exact location is Thanalan 36-18
i've only been here 10 minutes so far.
i'm using moth pupa. just caught several crayfish so far, and i JUST lost a Crimson Crayfish, which is a lvl 41 fish.

15 more minutes have gone by, and i pretty much got no bites any longer.
then outta nowhere, i got attacked by a land angler. started running, and am now in a cave off the grid south of the pond where there is a skeleton and two fire elementals. there is also a spear fishing spot. Edited by user Monday, October 04, 2010 1:02:38 PM(UTC)

I got my willow rod last night and have found a cave in Ul'dah to the SE of camp horizon. I've heard you can get blindfish from the pools in caves so I'm trying it out.

Found a grade 4 in Coerthas Eastern Lowlands near the Mills. At level 17-18 lots of "nothing bites" tried all different baits and the one that seemed to catch other things besides crayfish is the chocobo fly which caught mostly dark bass. So I'm going to take a guess that dark bass will be very common at grade 4.
btw watchout for those reef anglers...nasty buggers |
