Hi all.

I found some information on the different stats based on races. I thought I would share it here for people to see if you are going to decide on race based on stats.

First of a little information about the stats:
STR: Increases melee attack power and the percentage of damage mitigated by the block and parry
DEX: Increases ranged attack power and the chance of blocking or parrying an attack
VIT: Increases maximum hitpoints
INT: Increases magical attack potency
MND: Increases healing magic potency
PIE: Increases maximum mana points

Racial Stat Differences:
Race with the lowest stat
Race with the highest stat
Race: STR / DEX / VIT / INT / MND / PIE
Hellsguard: 20 / 17 / 21 / 20 / 22 / 20
Sea Wolves: 22 / 18 / 23 / 17 / 21 / 19
Dunesfolk: 17 / 20 / 17 / 21 / 22 / 23
Plainsfolk: 18 / 22 / 18 / 21 / 20 / 21
Duskwight: 20 / 20 / 19 / 23 / 20 / 18
Wildwood: 19 / 23 / 18 / 22 / 17 / 21
Highlander: 23 / 20 / 22 / 18 / 20 / 17
Midlander: 21 / 19 / 20 / 21 / 18 / 21
Sun Seeker: 21 / 22 / 20 / 18 / 19 / 20
Moon Keepers: 18 / 21 / 17 / 19 / 23 / 22

It should be added that when leveling up the difference between races does not become more or less. That is: If one race has a stat with 17 at level one and another has 22 for the same stat the difference will also be 5 at level 50.

Does anyone know what stats are good for the gathering classes. Can we expect to see the same stats being useful now that were useful in 1.0?

From what I've seen based on the Whisperer bonuses, it seems STR & MND (Mining) and DEX & INT (Botany) will have an effect. Since we don't know a lot about fishing it's yet to be seen whether or not the remaining two stats will affect them or not.

It's hard to say how much of an impact each individual stat has on their correlated classes since from what I've seen, most of the gear just sticks to Gathering and Perception and doesn't have any other stats on the main pieces, apart from some special looking ones that add a little extra GP. I had a couple STR rings on when I was mining, and that was the only way I was able to get up to the 211 STR required Whisperer bonus for a level 50 node. It seems like you'll have to balance out your stats through use of accessories and materia to make it to where you can meet your base stats, gathering and perception requirements for the Whisperer bonuses, or swap gear where necessary.

While there are some stat differences, as it's been said they're pretty small and don't grow exponentially apart between the different races like they did in FFXI. The difference was so radical there that you could have as much as a 25 INT difference between say a Galka and a Taru.

Someone asked me(new to ffxiv) via twitter what races were what compared to ffxi so:

MIQO'TE (mithra) - SEEKERS OF THE SUN / KEEPERS OF THE MOON
HYUR (hume) - MIDLANDERS / HIGHLANDERS
ELEZEN (elf) - WILDWOOD / DUSKWIGHT
ROEGADYN (galka) - SEA WOLVES / HELLSGUARD
LALAFELL (taru) - PLAINSFOLK / DUNESFOLK

I am playing mithra male no matter what the stats but it just so happens sun seeker has good str/dex/vit so I'm good to go. I'll end up playing all jobs anyway so gear will make the difference.

As far as the stats for DoL I would just say it depends on how tough DoL might be if at all. I had absolutely no worries about stats in 1.0 as they made no difference whatsoever to lvling up or catching fish even if it said they did. I don't know if the rod will make a huge difference like FFXI and gear just be for looks or if it will all make a huge difference.

Any FC activities where DoL is needed might require certain stats to accomplish tasks but we'll find out soon enough.

The stat difference between the races doesn't scale in beta, it's the same at lvl 1 as lvl 50 assuming same class but honestly i'd be shocked if it stays that way.

Basically, once you learn Tree Whisperer (Botany) or Stone Whisperer (Mining) certain nodes will grant a bonus while gathering from it if you meet the required stats. I touched on it a bit in the post Vicious linked, and also the spreadsheet I published has a list of nodes and what stats are required to get the bonus from them.

Kida, the whisper bonus' are determined by the node (certain nodes have only certain possible bonuses) and whether you meet the stat requirement.

When the node has the appropriate whisper bonus possible the stats will determine if it activates as follows,

Gathering = +10% NQ chance
Perception = +10% HQ chance
Combat stats like Des/Str = +1 attempt
Elemental stats = Increased yield

The UI when the bonus is active states the >= value required to activate. This should be a static value for each bonus type, for each node level. I have not bothered to record these values however.

If you are harvesting at a level appropriate node for XP, gear is exceptionally important for these effects to ever occur. Which is why very few people outside of legacy characters even notice this aspect of DoL.

Considering the significant bonus attached to having 7 attempts on a node, vs the standard 6, combat stats will be important to DoL, as much as gathering and perception. 100% HQ chance activated by acquiring chain 5, and harvested for chain 6, is a great boost for resources and XP.

The last thing we need in a game where you can master every profession is for your race/clan to heavily, or even moderately, influence your stats. I'd be shocked if it doesn't stay this way.

Orophin, looking briefly at your spreadsheet, it appears that the required stat values are consistent for each node level. Would it be possible to summarize the required values for each level from your data? The whisper node locations do not list the level, or I would do it.

IMO, double checking these values and applying an appropriate food to maximize the whisper procs, would be useful for new players, or players starting on a virgin server.

Foods can be easily sorted and compared on the XIVDB.com database to quickly determine which is most efficient.

Yep, they are consistent per the level of the node being gathered from. I'll get that information this weekend.
