First, I realize PV @ xivpads has this option already that is used 24/7. Sometimes it gets over the top lol but they seem to keep it under control and it seems rare. I never see any outside spam and it scrolls so fast it wouldn't matter.

Is there any interest in a chat feature here. The only reason I ask is not everything discussed has to have a thread created for it Quick questions, quick links for members/guests, general discussion. I spend enough time on here that it would be nice to have sometimes and we do get a lot of traffic in guests.

I just think you might get more. uh.. communication between players since there seems to be a small group who post. Funny thing is if the site went away you would find a lot of people start asking where did it go.. what happened to Kida's dol site who never post. So it's a big information site in it's own aspect and what we post gets viewed by players all over the world.

If you did a chat it would have to be kept under control like Josh does with pads in that no spammers allowed to post bad links/off topic stuff and control mechs over posters guests and members who get out of hand. I've had a handful of spam to deal with already just on the forums but you can't let guests just go nuts in a chat and start offending people and whatnot.

Anyway, just an idea. I think if I recall this came up before and I was one of the first to shoot it down lol. I know most will use their ls/fc sites if they have chat which most do for daily bs once the game starts but it's just an idea. Could do a trial run but it would have to be on the forum page somehow not the index.

I usually hang out at FFXIVCore's new temporary site (corerefugees.enjin.com) and they have chat module loaded there. When I'm at work and at my desk not too busy I'll participate some. It has a sound notification when someone says something, so it's not like it's something I have to constantly watch.

It wouldn't bother me either way if it were a feature brought here or not.
