Description:
Firminnant (Coerthas Central Highlands; x13, y16) condescendingly suggests dangling hoverworms from a line in the Sea of Clouds beyond Ishgard in order to retrieve five cloud cutters for Sisipu
Objectives:

Level 50 Fishing Quest
Description
Wawalago believes a Mazlaya marlin can clear up the misunderstanding, but catching one will require recasting. Take a goby ball to the north Bloodshore and catch a harbor herring, then recast the harbor herring to catch an ogre barracuda. Finally, recast the ogre barracuda to catch a Mazlaya marlin.
Objectives
Deliver a Mazlaya marlin to Sisipu (1)

Just hit 50 on Ultros, I think I'm the second one or something. Anyways, caught the Mazlaya marlin on my second cast haha, and I have a bunch of crappy old level 25-35 gear on too. I was hoping for a challenge! Granted, I fished a lot, but I am a little disappointed with how easy and quick it was to hit 50. It took me a week and a half maybe of fishing in between leveling MNK to 32 and some other classes to 15. I personally like the grind and would enjoy not being able to truly master is for months and months. Anybody know of anywhere to get krill cage bait cheaper since it's mis-priced on vendors (all that I know of anyway)? Edited by user Sunday, September 01, 2013 6:52:16 PM(UTC)

Congrats! I looked up fishers on your server, and assuming the Lodestone filters it by whether you have actually leveled it rather than it being listed as your last class it saw you as, it showed you were the 2nd highest in that list. I'm positive I could be 50 by now, but I've been spending so much time filling out my fishing log and testing different baits in each area. Well, that and playing my BLM and going through the main storyline. Fishing has kind of been secondary to that. Edit: And yeah, apparently Lodestone only searches fishermen based on whether that was the last class they saw them on or not. I'm 50 on Ultros too since Saturday. I know of two or three other level 50 fishers besides me and you, so yeah you're probably in the top 10. I think I was 3rd, not that it matters I guess.
Here's to hoping all of you guys don't undercut me now =( lol

OK. I've read everything and I can't find the answer. Has anyone been able to locate the spot to fish up Black Sole? It says the bloodbrine sea, and they're supposed to be lvl 28. But I have been all over the place and I cannot, for the life of me, find them anywhere.

Thanx! I've also caught them at North Bloodshore but Rescuer's location may yield a better catch rate. North Bloodshore is level 30 while Salt Strand is 35 as it requires Gulleye II I believe. |

Well there goes my profit lol. People are undercutting the hell out of each other. I was selling blacklips for 700-800, whitelips for 200-400, and red corals for 500, all NQ. Now all of them are down to like 200, 50, and 250 respectively. I assume by tomorrow we will be bottoming out at like 50-100 gil per. Kinda sad.
I guess the only money will be in HQs, which even still will be undercutted down to dirt.
So it looks like Silver Sharks and Mahi Mahis are really the only valuable things for the most part from fishing, aside from HQ red coral and pearls.

I had a problem with one or two people undercutting me as well on the AH. I do have an alternative way of selling fish now to cut out the middle man, but it's really brutal to think that fellow fishermen are so quick to undercut each other when it only hurts each other in the long run. If it weren't for people in the RP community who know that I'm a fisher and need fish to level up alchemy/cooking/goldsmithing(red coral), I wouldn't have made any money at all off the craft. I too am learning that the prices are all over the place and fish that used to sell for me no longer do and if the prices are going to drop down to below 20g I sadly take the hit and NPC them :/ However I have learned that instead of giving in to the under cutting I keep putting up my wares for a decent or middle of the road price. Eventually they will sell when all the cheap ones are gone and the price will (hopefully) slowly stabilize.

Fishing prices are just horrible on my server. Couldn't sleep and less than 5 hours have passed and all the fish I put up already dropped in price by A LOT. There are a good dozen fish that are ruined now as in 1-5gil and won't ever come back up unless they do massive market/item changes. Edited this down. The market is just weird period unless you're selling high level HQ stuff. I had been making some HQ food to sell for people doing leve turn-ins and over the course of a night someone had undercut me by 100% on some of my things. It's just ridiculous. As everything I craft is 100% profit due to me gathering the items and shards, I have no problem undercutting people back. I'll crash the market if I have to. :P |
