;)

have you (or anybody else) still been trying to get it?

I'm on gilgamesh and i've been at cape westwind pretty much all day long for a week now. I'm the only one that i've seen fishing here.

it's been a week...all day long every day (like 8am~ till 10pm~)... and i can't tell you the amount of goby's i've fished up, the stacks of wahoo's and sharks i have, the amount i've spent on repairs and bait....

seriously. a week and i'm way beyond my limit. the fact that there is already a bug on gilgamesh with another fish at sylphlands almost leads me to start thinking that titanic sawfish (on my server) is also messed up.

the first person to catch it said in this thread he got it in 15 minutes. i've been here a week. so luck is beyond insane times infinity, or my server is bugged

whelp, with my post above, i actually spent 9 full days on gilgamesh trying to get it
I abandoned gilgamesh.

I've been on my legacy character on Sargatanas, and literrally got titanic sawfish in ONE MINUTE. that's right, ONE MINUTE

and i got it just before/about 10am game time http://i.imgur.com/aOH970D.jpg

screw gilgamesh, i'm staying on my legacy character

i haven't even gotten all the other fish yet :O http://i.imgur.com/qePz7JC.jpg

Regardless of the rest that pic shows that it's sunny weather conditions :) feeling more confident in that theory now.

oh yeah, definitely sunny weather. most people so far reported "at noon" but now we can move that time earlier a bit.

since i'm back on my legacy character now i'm moving onto fishing up everything else in game all over again, so i won't be testing cape westwind again for now.

Alrighty, I finally got un-lazy and made a profile so I might as well ask this since it's been on my mind a while. For the Sawfish (only fish I've ever had to think this way about), is it possible you think to "hold" a mooched Wahoo until the right time/weather? I tried it once, held it for a solid half a day, then fished with it just after noon on a sunny day. No luck, but that could have just been bad luck. Anyone else's thoughts?

An interesting idea. I think you'd need a much larger sample size of testing than just once to get an idea whether it judges the catch at the time you caught the HQ fish or the time you casted it to catch the target fish.

would there be a single mooch fish requiring weather/time of day to catch we could test it on? I actually had this idea the other day when i caught a HQ wahoo at 6am there

First off, I'd like to confirm that the Mushroom Crab can only be caught in fog. After reading Hakrev's post, I went to test it - I got the glitch message early on, and when the weather changed to fog, it came right up. My fishing log thanks Hakrev for clearing that up - I do think they need to change that message though.

Secondly, with holding the mooch fish - the main issue I see is the "The fish sense something amiss" message, which will lose you your mooch. I had been fishing in Cape Westwind for about 20 minutes and got the HQ Wahoo on the line during fog weather. I decided to hold it for about 10 minutes to see if it would clear up, which it didn't, so I cast it out. Instead of a cast I got the above message and had to move a few feet to continue. Also, I've fished at other spots before and left myself "engaged" but not actually fishing while I took care of some real life things - when I would come back, it wouldn't be long before I got the message to move. I'm pretty sure that the timer that makes you move is based on how long you've been standing at the coast with your line ready, not how many fish you've caught. That's what it seems like to me.

What about moon phases... are we even considering this when fishing? Maybe this is something that could influence some of these hard to get fish.

I can't find anything but I suppose looking at it is better than nothing. Considering there are no other way to tell it may not be implemented yet although I am not sure.

It had quite a lot to say in FFXI so it may come in to the game later.

i think you meant 1230pm :)

yes, before anybody had caught titanit sawfish, i was at the point where my theory was moon phase plus weather.
so I tried on all moon phases. full moon and new moon then became my target.
then after trying over and over and over i started thinking NEW moon PLUS rain, which i tested time and time again as well.

then people finally started catching it around noon on clear weather.

but as i've noted as well, nobody on gilgamesh has caught it, which is the server I was on and I believe it's bugged there.

since i moved to sargatanas and caught it withing a single minute being there, i also caught it on clear weather but mine was at about 10am. so right now the time frame is about 10am till 2pm~ based on times people have caught it

we need more catch data on it to get the time frame more correct though

Yes, 12.30 p.m. xD
Anyway i tried for like 10 days catching it and initially I thought it was bugged too on Ragnarok. I think the problem is finding the right condition (around noon with clear sky) and fishing goby hq then whaoo hq during that brief time.
