I was referred here by Kida on FFXIV Origin to use the DoL log, but I don't see levequest items listed there. All 3 of my characters had good fishing days for once yesterday and I just wanted to report the conditions. I had mentioned that sometimes I cut it really close on my levequest timer, but yesterday I finished each of them in under 5 minutes and got enough skill ups to rank up.

I always cast at the middle (default) depth on levequests just because I don't want to be dealing with too many variables at once. I did go ahead and test different bait on each character though so I could tell if my success was due to the bait or the moon/weather. I also use beginner level equipment based on the vendors in the area for the sake of the guides I'm writing.

Character 1 - Fishing Rank 7~8:

• Weather - cloudy (last option on your log)
• Moon - new moon (first option on your log)
• Location - Bentbranch; freshwater (I think); grade 1
• Gear - Weathered Fishing Rod; Lugworms
• Fish caught - Salmon for Drying x3; Aquarium Bone Crayfish x3

Character 2 - Fishing Rank 6~7:

• Weather - cloudy (last option on your log) and partly cloudy (5th option on your log)
• Moon - new moon (first option on your log)
• Location - Black Brush; freshwater; grade 1
• Gear - Weathered Fishing Rod; Moth Pupa
• Fish caught - Carp for Salting x3; Bigclaw Crayfish x3

Character 3 - Fishing Rank 9~10:

• Weather - cloudy (last option on your log) and rainy (6th option on your log)
• Moon - new moon (first option on your log)
• Location - Bearded Rock; saltwater; grade 1
• Gear - Weathered Fishing Rod; Bloodworms
• Fish caught - Herring for Smoking x3; Fresh Oyster x3

Like I said, yesterday was just a good day for fishing levequests and was the first time I've had that much success on all 3 of my characters at the same time. It seemed like all I had to do was drop my line in the water and a lot of times I would reel in a fish on my first jig.

I think it may have been the new moon. It did start raining on my character in Limsa Lominsa about halfway through my 2nd levequest and at that point the fish stopped biting. I did at least get the rest of my fish within the next 10 minutes so I wasn't in danger of failing the levequest.
