Hello everyone, I need help (as I'm sure others do as well) on catching the "picky fish".

The current fish I am trying to catch and have been unable to thus far is the Blacklip Oyster. Is there a specific bait it requires? Or perhaps a specific level? I am currently level 43 Fisher and have been fishing in one of the known spots for it: The Sapsa Spawning Grounds. I have used Herring Balls, Heavy Iron Jigs, and even the Krill Cage Feeder with no success.

Any help I can get on this, and perhaps any other "picky fish" that can be added to this thread with any information on how to gather them would be most appreciated by myself and any others also having the same problems.

Thank you in advance.

A Blacklip oyster (BLO) is level 44 bone, I fished for around 60-70 successful attempts with the following lures/bait in the Sapsa Spawning grounds, this is what I got:

- Northern Krill (65 successful attempts) got me 8 NQ BLO and 3 HQ BLO, meaning a 17% chance to get one either NQ or HQ.

- Heavy Iron Jig (45 successful attempts) got me absolutly no BLO at all.

- Yumizuno (60 successful attempts) got me 1 NQ BLO and no HQ BLO, meaning a 2% chance to get one.

I am level 50 fishing and got 241 gathering + 341 perception to give a general idea of the efficiency of the lures/bait.

I would recommend to level up a bit more and try to fish with live bait that is about the same level or higher then the BLO. So level up to 45 and use glowworms (level 45 freshwater & ocean bait).

The glowworms can be found in Western La Noscea at Camp Skull valley for example for 10 gil each.

Hope this helps a bit. :)

That helps a ton Toppa Indrogar! Thank you! Perhaps my gathering stat isn't high enough because I used 2 of the 3 baits you mentioned with no yield. Also I find it amusing that you need BLO to make Yumizuno and you need Yumizuno to get BLO xD
