Hey guys,

I've created my Mining set and offhand, all HQ. I am trying to figure out what stats to meld, and to what point for best efficiency. I know this is the community to ask so...is there a "best" method, a stat requirement to hit, or even just tell me what kinda weights u put on things. Thanks a lot guys!!

It doesn't contain any GP materia though, since fishers don't use it. Also, offhand is missing since fishers don't have one. All the DoH AFs have the same caps, so I'd assume the same applies to DoL AFs.

Personally, I pushed my perception to exactly 320 (the minimum requirement to get HQs out of an unspoiled node) and my GP to ~600 (585 to be specific -- three successful chops gives me the effect of 600GP), then stopped caring much about my DoL gear. On an unspoiled node, I have a 89% gather rate, and that's good enough for me. Any additional perception will have such a tiny tiny affect on my gathers that it didn't seem worth it. Any additional GP won't get me enough to use another ability on an unspoiled node, so that's useless. I could do with some more Gathering+ materia, but I've been focusing on other things instead.

I do have a few additional materia numbers that I could provide if I could just find the little piece of paper I wrote it down on...

Thank you man, I'm suprised I missed that. Only downside is, isn't GP kinda important to max the one/day node output? It's excellent for the Gathering/Perception though! Now I just need some help on the GP end. :)

One thing to keep in mind is if you have all HQ equipment you won't be able to further meld materia with stats that already come naturally on that piece of gear. So for gathering pieces only you should probably do Perception on them, and vice versa. For those that have both (tools) you can just do GP.

DoH/DoL gear doesn't really follow that rule.

Oh really? Well ok then. I haven't done any melding myself so I'm not personally experienced in this. I just remembered reading things on the forums about HQ armor having its native stats considered maxed already. I didn't know this didn't translate to DoL/DoH gear.

Can any1 please help as far as GP goes in it? Is the ideal 600+ for +HQ + extra attempt thing?

True. I have melded craftsmanship and control to my hq crafting gear. There is a max so it can be beneficial to use lower grades to get to max as these are easier to attach.

Kida I know ur extremely knowledgable. Can you tell me what stat priority you put on your melding? And how much GP do you have/consider neccesary for best efficiency? ty

GP:
580+ GP is ideal. You might be able to hit that without any melds at all if you eat some +GP food, but melds certainly make it easier.

600GP is the actual number you're shooting for, but since you regen 5GP with every successful chop, 580 is the bare minimum you can have to get two 300GP abilities off on an unspoiled node. I roll with 585, since that allows me to miss a swing.

Is it possible to stack enough GP to get up to 650/700? If so, then you could do that if you want to use a +Gathering% ability, but remember, the more GP you rely on for unspoiled nodes, the longer you're going to be standing there doing nothing waiting for your GP to regen.

Perception:
320+ Perception is all you need. I stopped at exactly 320 because the returns weren't worth it past that point. 320 will allow you to be able to gather HQs from unspoiled nodes. I've heard from someone who pushed their Perception to the mid-330s and their HQ rate was still 1%. Lets face it, the base HQ rate doesn't matter for unspoiled nodes, we're going to be relying on our abilties.

Gathering:
I'll need to get back with you on this. I'm not sure what my Gathering is, but I have an 89% chance to gather from unspoiled nodes, so I could certainly use some more Gathering... So far, I've only melded onto one or two items.

I was able to find my paper with my meld data on it, so I'll post that tonight when I get home. It's far from complete, but it's better than nothing.

Looks like someone started a similar thread on the OF, so I've just posted my info over there.
