Has anyone experienced anything like this yet? I don't want to spread rumors, but wanted to bring this up, as I've been fishing for hours today, and the first few I was catching everything. At this moment, I have lost 10 crayfish in a row, as a rank 29 fisher. This doesn't seem right. All my gear has been repaired (well, except my rod, which is still at about 78%) and I've used different baits for catching just crayfish (lugworms and sinking minnows at Casseopeia's Hollows). When ever I am on a losing streak, I always checked the weather as well, and it seems the worst time for me to catch fish is when it's raining, or a New Moon. Or both.

I wonder if there is a fatigue system in place, and if it's for time spent fishing constantly? Or maybe it's a fatigue vs. a certain type of fish caught in a row, since I have ran to town a couple times. Or maybe it's just extremely bad luck, or possibly the weather. As you can tell, this is all just pure speculation. Any thoughts?

Edit: I am also under fatigue, and have been all day but have just been fishing through it.

So, I tried switching baits and the fish I have been able to fish up in the past, I am losing constantly. I'm losing about 3/4 of the time. I got my Willow rod repaired to 100% to make sure it wasn't that, and.. it doesn't seem to be the problem. I have also tried out other depths.

When I tire a fish out, sometimes I have over half the bar remaining. My second jig in the same spot loses the fish. It's frustrating.

Are you at the same spot or have you tried another spot? I wonder if going to fx. a saltwater location would help out (know you won't be able to get the same fish but it may be worth a shot).

Out of 30 fish on the line:

Cassiopeia Hollow (Grade 4 Freshwater) & Lugworm (Crayfish)

Lost - 19

Got away - 3

Success - 8

Bloodshore (Grade 3 Saltwater) & Floating Minnow

Lost - 14

Got away - 7

Success - 9

The fish were biting at both places, as I got very few no biters. I'll test more tomorrow as I'm going to sleep now. Maybe an 8+ hour break will change things as well.

Wow... that IS pretty bad! At rank 29 you should be getting more. Especially as you get the bites. I hope that a break will clear it up for you.

Yes that's gathering fatigue.  I've had it three times now mostly because I forget to change jobs when I leave myself logged on overnight, but if all you do is lvl fisher you're gonna get it a lot, especially now that you're a high lvl and it requires so much sp to lvl. Eventually it will get to the point where you will not catch anything at all, not even losses and you won't get any sp. It really sucks.

I know that there's a fatigue system but I'm unsure of how it works for DoL/DoH versus the battle classes. You get so little skill points while gathering already that they may indeed implement fishing fatigue similar to XI, where your catches start getting away. To be fair it's easier (or more constant, rather) to get skill points from DoL since you can just constantly fish rather than have to make sub-items to do combines or fight people for mobs to kill, so they may have figured out something rather than taking away more xp while fatigued.

Have you been fishing in the same spot this whole time? I've noticed you can actually dry up an area fishing it too much, and it happens even faster if too many people are in one spot trying to get a certain type of fish.

I was fishing in the same spot during the time when I started to receive this "fatigue". I moved spots though, so that doesn't make sense for any claims that I may have fished up all the fish, if that's even possible. Not to mention fish were still biting the whole time, but I couldn't reel them in.

I've posted this numerous times over on FFXIVCore, but keep track of how many people are online when you're trying to fish.  Once the server population goes over 2500, you might as well not even bother, because the client<->server communication lags just prevents you from consistently catching anything.

I personally haven't reached this fatigue people have talked about and I have fished in certain places for 4 hours straight without the bite rate tapering off.

You won't really notice the fatigue in 4 straight hours.  It's when you get into the 12+ range that you really start to notice it.  When I hit 16 hours it was a lost cause.

It seems this fishing fatigue resets when guildleves do.

I am hitting this fatigue again right now, even after taking a 10 hour break. I had the fishing fatigue before guildleves reset yesterday, and right when they reset, I was reeling things in left and right. Of course, I hit it again hours after, but I now know it resets when guildleves do, and not just an X amount of hours while you're switched jobs and/or logged off.

Guildleves will reset again today, and since I am affected by this fatigue, it will give me another chance to confirm this. If this is true, then I assume it is this way with all other crafting and gathering classes.

For Cortez's information, there are only 1,992 people on currently, and I'm losing more fish than I'm reeling in.

Yeah that's pretty bad.

I guess I just don't have enough time to play to get to that point haha.  Were you able to verify after leve reset that you were able to fish some more?  And did your xp bar turn yellow as this was occurring.?  I'm just wondering if there's some other factor involved or that if you hit surplus that this starts going on.

Yup, the minute the clocked turned over to reset the guildleves, I was catching fish left and right, it was crazy. Leves reset in a few hours, so I'll have another chance to see if it happens again. My XP bar is yellow pretty much a day or two after fatigue resets (every Wednesday for me) since all I do is fish. I would think it's linked to surplus if guildleve resets didn't seem to be resetting this fatigue.

Btw, I am catching about 10 fish every hour now.  But I am so close to 35 and cannot give up.

Is fatigue identified by your SP gauge being red, or is it from missing lots of catches?

Ive been finding that I will have a 1/3 or so stamina bar remaining and will just get "Fish got away" when it seems like I should get at least 1 more Jig..

"Nothing bites" is one thing.. but "Fish got away" is really annoying :(

I had been seeing this as level 17-18 in Grade 3 pools around Tranquil Paths. Using both Willow and Bamboo rods, Crow Fly lure. Have fishing hat, and mostly dodoskin gathering armor. Weather is most often rainy out there.

I am 19 now and am trying to move to other Grade 3 locations.. and then also moving a few "yalms" up and down a stream to see if that helps. No hard data on that yet :P

I didn't bother reading all the posts so sorry if this has already been mentioned.

In the game there seems to be two fatigue systems. The first gives you the 'bonus skill' which is a straight 10% decrease in skill, which increases overtime until it is a full 100% decrease in skill (eg, you get nothing)

The second fatigue system is often called Phantom Fatigue. From what I've seen it only effects DoL and DoH. For DoL it makes it so you continually miss, for fishing it makes you get a very low bite rate, or loose fish a lot easier then you should (for example the crayfish).

For synthing it causes you're synths to fail more, and go chaotic more.

Basically it's SE's way of telling you you've fished enough for that day. (Think of FFXI's 100fish/day fatigue)

There is no way to tell if you have Phantom Fatigue unless you do DoL/DoH, whereas normal fatigue does give you're current skill amount turn yellow. (Physical experience can also enter fatigue)

Hope this helps, sorry if it was already answered.
