The ability to catch big fish depends on a players gathering rating. * As of patch 2.2, big fish can be caught in level 1 to 15 fishing holes. A new fisher action has been added. Cast Light Acquired - Level 1 Lights up the tip of your fishing rod. Players can now use the /sit command after casting a line when fishing. DOL TOOLS: Forager's Dolabra Miner's Primary Tool Item Level: 70 / Equipment Level: 50 Forager's Hatchet Botanist's Primary Tool Item Level: 70 / Equipment Level: 50 Forager's Fishing Rod Fisher's Primary Tool Item Level: 70 / Equipment Level: 50 There are some other very minor notes like emotes while fishing,etc but that's it. Seems like I was right and that the big fishing is no big deal at all. 1-15 grade nodes to catch it and I'd assume the gathering stat will be minor. The new fishing rod.. If I find out this trumps the luminary... Seriously wtf is this..we have to pay monthly for new retainers??: Players may purchase up to two additional retainers. The purchase of an additional retainer will apply to all characters on a single account. However, a single retainer cannot be shared between characters on a single service account. The titles in the English patch notes say "Go Big or Go Home I-III", but the same achievement titles in the Japanese patch notes say (translated) "The Road to Lu-Shang 1-3". Perhaps we will get the legendary fishing rod in a future patch.... :)

I missed that.. now that would be nice if it's challenging to get and if the stats on it are very good and meldable even? But for there to be a need for better dol equipment and stats you need a fish equivalent.. something that is worthy and needs that gear to catch it instead of just another achievement and an item to take up space. Most of that goes against the thinking of how Yoshi sees fishing which is a time waster while you are searching for dungeons. Who knows.. maybe they'll make big game fishing something really challenging down the road to acquire a lu shang, etc. I just don't see time consuming and challenging = Yoshi's fishing plan.
