Yep, you're going to have to do your level 15 main quests first. After you do those, or if you already have them done, head down to the Fishing guild and pick up the quest. Its very simple you just have to go to the fishing holes marked on your quest map and fish up a pixie remora from each hole. Very easy!

Kind of sucks we're required to level up a "battle class" (for lack of a better term) and do the main mission so that you can do your fishing quests. I guess they either didn't want people just solely leveling a gathering class, or they didn't think anyone really would.
After I hit max fishing, whenever that may be, I guess I'll be trying to get the main storyline done so I can go back and do these fishing quests. |

I did the first part of the main story quest as a fisher but switched to a level 4 or 5 conjurer for the escort part...you probably don't even need that, maybe just the rock throwing skill. But the rest I did as a fisher, no actual battle required :) |

Nettebar is correct. The first story quest is the only one where actual fighting is required, but you can do this as a fairly low level DoW/DoM. The rest you can just sit back and let the quests take their course.
I did the level 20 fishing quest yesterday and it was pretty cakey. Just don't make the mistake of trying to find the fishing spot south of LL and go the wrong way, else you'll end up with a clipper smacking you for 3000 damage.
I wonder if the next quest will take place at 25 or sooner. |

Sure, the first one and rank 10 ones are easy to do, but can you continue to do the rank 15+ main story line ones as a fisher? I attempted the rank 15 one just once, but it didn't seem like it could be completed, since I would get 3-shot by those monsters. Edited by user Monday, October 18, 2010 3:14:32 PM(UTC)

I haven't personally tried it, but I've heard you can just sit there and watch the two NPCs fight until one beats the other and the story progresses from there.
Being that you're level 11 Conj, you can probably just deal the final blow if you have to. |

Never the Twain Shall Meet (lvl 15).
I began this yesterday, with my fisher (don't have any dow/dom levels). I guess I could have just watched te fight onboard, but decided to throw a few stunning rocks :) Infact I did die. But I saw the whole cut-scene. After the cut-scene I was dead on the pier, but that part of quest was completed.

I can't seem to catch these things! Does it matter what bait you use? Or which order you hit the 4 spots? I've tried Lugworms and Bloodworms and came up with nothing.

Yeah, the map thing confused me for probably 30 minutes. I was fishing in the same spot wondering why I only caught it on my first cast, and not any of the ones following it. I didn't know I had to go to the Map in the Journal to see the spots. |

@ Rescuer
Without spoiling the story aspect of it let me know how that level 30 quest goes. Sounds like it's going to take you to a special area and I wonder if you will get to fish up anything new. :) |

You don't really get to fish up something new but you do experience an interesting relationship between fisher and fish. Reward is 30k guild marks and 30k gil. You do get an excellent item during the quest. Also the quest is hilarious. A+
p.s. As above Sispu gives you bait to feed the fish. When you get there, youll wonder where the f*** your fish feed bait is and get confused that you cant fish. Youll see 4 ??? on the water. Just target them and click Enter. Thats how you deploy the fish food. Then the fun starts. Edited by user Wednesday, October 27, 2010 11:39:58 AM(UTC)

grats on those who completed your quests. Most of the other sites have incomplete or no information at all on the fishing quests. Some have a couple completed but I haven't seen any with a map showing the journal spots for instance like the rank 20 quest: To Fight a Fishback.
I completed that quest but figured someone would of uploaded a map with points by now and complete info for all other fishing quests on those sites. Will the fishing quests be uploaded on here with maps and information, rewards, item or possible item drops, etc? |

That's a good idea, and something I would like to see also for anything related to gathering and crafting quests. :) |

I was actually going to do this, and at some point half way through, my fraps failed on me. i kept hitting my screenshot hotkey thinking it was taking pictues, but found out it only worked for the first half of the quest :( now i've completed the quest and can't get the images.
I've been busy all last night and all day today, so i haven't been in game to do the lvl 30 quest yet. But i was just on the news again on TV hehe
