I'm a r43 miner currently on Lindblum and this site wasn't much of a help to me. Most of the items/resources locations are lacking. The items i looked up are in many areas, but only listed in 1 area on the website (ex mythril ore) I could help update, but it's waaaayyy too many items to keep track of. Anyone else feel the same way?

Hi CatlikeThief,

I agree with you 100%! This site seems to be lacking in the mining area, and not sure why. The mining forums are dead compared to fishing and harvesting. Its clear that the miners that do/did participate are lower level. I was frustrated with the inaccuracy also, so much so that I wrote in to the admin of the site and became a moderator which gives me the ability to add nodes and items, etc.

I am only R23 at this time, and the past 2 days have entered in a TON of resource locations for R2 and R3 in Thanalan and La Noscea (Over by LL). Today I am going to The Black Shroud to explore and do the same. Its rather fun to contribute to the site, and takes away some of the monotony of mining.

I would encourage you to either post your new locations in the "Additions" forums, or possible ask to become a moderator as well. The site could sure use the help of a high level miner such as yourself! Just contact Kida the site admin if your interested, he is a great guy and very helpful.

Feel free to PM me, and I will give you more details on the inner functions of the site/adding to the maps, its surprisingly simple and quick.

/Cheers, Richard Preston of Besaid

I am sorry to hear that you find the site lacking. We are still working hard to get as much information out there as possible but with the kind of information this site provide we need to do everything manually.

We can take mythril ore as an example: Someone will have to find mythril ore and submit it to the database before we can let people know where it is. We have many nodes to search and we are adding information all the time but I personally work a lot in improving the site and my mining rank is admittedly not very high ;-;

As StinkyWinky (I hate calling you that LOL) pointed out, the main focus of the site for many people have been fishing with botany coming in second. This means we have way more information about this than mining. As time goes by we hope to search all corners of Eorzea and get all the information but it will take a while.

Let me add that I am expecting to finish a new log interface that integrates with the resource maps during the weekend. This new log should add a ton of very detailed information to the maps. This information can then be used to fill the resource finder with information on where and how to obtain the different items.

The november 25th update also changed a lot of information which makes it important for us to make new logs and then maybe discard all the old information as this may no longer apply.

You call this post "Too many errors". Do you have any examples of errors or is it just because you find the information lacking? If you have examples of errors I would very much like to know what they are as they would need to be corrected.

And also as StinkyWinky pointed out: If you want to help with the adding of information you are more than welcome to become a moderator. We are always looking for help... BigGrin

I just checked to see how much information we had about mythril ore and I can see that only two people have ever logged information about it.

One has been found at Treespeak (user was rank 43) and one has been found at Nophica's Well (user was rank 25).

I now that you were talking about the site in general but I thought I would put it in there.

When someone log an item we revise it before adding the information to the database. When only one person has found it at a location we don't add it yet as we want more proof that the location is right.

Another thing I found was that when you look up mythril ore it says that it can be located in Skull Valley, this is an error I believe or maybe a left over from beta test. When we have a descent amount of new logs with the new system I think we will make a purge of all the old information in the database and only add the new. I know a lot of fish had new bait combinations on the 25th and some of the baits listed in the database may not apply any more.

The thing to notice is that more than 18,000 have people logged an item and yet there are only two mythril ores in the system. I believe this is proof of how hard it is to map all things in the game. As I have stated earlier: The mission of the site is to get all things logged but it may very well be a while but once we get it done I believe we will have a very powerful tool at our disposal.

Rant... I know but needed to let it out.

Yea, that mythril ore from Treespeak was from me. After i uploaded that info, i started looking at the other ores i was able to get. The ores i can get just wern't updated enough to be useful to any other miners who happen to look up the info.

The entry for Nophica's Well is probably accurate too. I'm also a rank 25 miner and doing the leve quests there, one of which is "Mythril for Merchants" which requires excavating "High-quality Mythril Ore" x 3. From what I've seen, the quest items are generally from the same areas where the normal item is found,

Relating this to my post on the new log interface and the adding a checkbox for leves post, since this is apparently a very rare drop, then the level information could be used to help find the sweet spot for it!! :D

Just about to do that very quest, so I'll post the info back here!

Edit: got it! Hit the sweet spot at +3 on the first gather, confirmed by two more drops! Hope that helps!

Can confirm Mythril in Nophica's Wells. I have mined there extensively and have 2 Mythrils on retainer. Also seeing Gold Dust showing up, have gotten about 6. They are pretty hard for me to dig up at Rank29!

Just did the same quest again, and this time I went for +3 each time. I got all 3 quest ores, and also got 2 "damaged" messages for the regular mythril ores - I'm probably way too low for those at 26!

The quest takes you to mining points up near the entrance to Copperbell Mines, which is where I got these results, but I don't get Lay of the Land IV until level 28, so I was unable to check for nodes in that area.

Edit: The damaged messages were both in the minimum strike range (smallest circle) if that makes sense :)
