Hello,
When is a good time for Miners to move up. I was thinking a guide might be in order. For example I am a R23 miner at this time, when should I begin mining Rank 4 resource locations?
Rank 1 now I get 7 hits and 0 SP. Rank 2 I get 6 hits and 70sp per hit. Is there a formula for this?
/Cheers, Richard Preston of Besaid |

/Cheers, Richard Preston of Besaid Its basically up to you, but I like to go as soon as possible. So when you can get 3 attempts at the next grade up I'd go. It looks like whether you mine/log your current grade (I'm R25 MIN, and I can do 6 tries at Grade 3) or the next grade up, you will get about 600sp. I can either do 6 tries at Grade 3 for about 100sp per try (100% success rate) or go for 3 tries at Grade 4 for about 200sp per (higher fail rate). I mainly do this for certain mats, plus I have Sweat Of Brow so the failures even out. At Grade 3 I can pile up Iron Ore/Sand and Limonite, and at Grade 4 I can pile up silver. I have a ton of the Grade 3 mats, so I just moved up for the silver. Same sp, just better mats. |

About that, where would be a good place for miner to mine-over-rank grade? Because you can't use ability to find nodes, is there any place that nodes are easily seen by eyes?

Maybe Gridania since the area is rather tunnel-like.
The way I've gone about leveling gatherers is grind until I get to the next tier of leves (every 10 levels on the 5s, 5, 15, 25, etc), do the leves until I get to the 8th level for the next detection skill, then grind some more. Once you get into the 40s though you're probably going to want to leve grind as much as you can. |

For me, it wasn't worth moving up to Level 4 (Nophicas) until I was 25, simply because it took me much longer to find the active points. At 25 at least you get the number of points there are in each direction, which narrows it down a bit. Until 25 though I found the experience faster at the L3 (Horizons Edge), particularly with the odd Guardians boost to leves.
Nophica's Wells is a pretty decent area to mine L4 without abilities. Most of the points are aggro free, although a few are tied up with miremite clusters now. All are outside of the mountains, and you can set a path to cover most of the points. |

I went to Gridania grade-4 in humbleheart from R23-28, now I plan to try out Iron-lake, see if I can manage it.

Good luck, but I think it might be too difficult at that level. You might get 1-2 attempts per gather max. |
