Shards and crystals are now made from fish!

more to come once all recipes are figured out.

Where did this information come from? Did you find it in the game or is it to be seen on the Lodestone (could not find it there).

If this is so will it also affect mining and logging? This will make it harder for gatherers to get shards and crystals from just gathering and I guess a crafting class would be required?

2 lightning crystals + crimson crayfish = 6 wind crystals
4 lightning shard + maiden carp = 12 earth shards
4 lightning shard + Pipira = 12 fire shards
5 lightning shard + Ala Mhigan Fighting Fish = 1 fire crystal
1 fire crystal = 5 lightning shard + oral butterfly = 1 fire crystal
1 scallop shell +4 lightning shards= 12 fire shards (alchemist level 1)
1 tiger cod +4 L shards = 12 wind shards (alchemist level 1)
1 bianaq bream + 10 L shards = 2 ice crystal @rnk 31 117 sp (alchemist level 20)
1 hammerhead shark + 1 L crystal = 3 water crystals @ rnk 31 280sp (alchemist level 35)
1 blowfish + 1 L crystal = 3 wind crystals @rnk 31 300sp (alchemist level 35)

for the rank 20-25 i guessed on cause i got about 115sp off them @ 31. and all require chemical training
rank 30 gave me same sp as buffalo dye = 250sp
rank 40 gave me same as toad dye = 400sp + and hard to do

Excellent news. Finally some use for the fishies! (other than sand and glue..)

I'm sort of a dork (chemistry major, can't help it) so here's the spreadsheet I'm working on for the fish recipes. My alchemy is only 17 and I didn't have a big pile of fish to work with, so I've been catching and testing as I'm able. I'm willing to hypothesize at this point that recipes that take 4 lightning shards are ALC 1, 5 shards are ALC 11, 10 shards are ALC 21, 1 crystal are ALC 31 and 2 crystals are ALC 41. That doesn't 100% line up with some of the ranks that were shared previously but using the equation to determine recipe rank, all the ones I've tested fit this pattern.

Is there a way to tell if you HQed at level 1 2 or 3? I've been synthing crayfish and I got 6, 9, and 16 lightning shards.

The spreedsheet is very good, I will be using this info create a nice visual document showing results/costs/level etc to have it all in one place (personally i don't care for YG or ZAM as they take a while to load and are garbled up.) It will be just a quick refrence sheet that should fit on one page.

Only a few things seemed to be missing on the list:

Wahoo
Jellyfish umbrella
Cieldales Clam
Lava Toad
Megalocrab Leg
Grass Viper


These all are either Fresh/Salt fare's (item property) and in the case of the viper Spearfished up (if scorpions and trantuala's turn, i'm sure the viper does too).


I have Wahoo, Lava Toad, and Grass Vipers in my inv so I'll check them after maintaince today to see what they result in and post it here. I don't have a crab leg on me though as it be nice to see what that turns into.

As far as the Alch Levels go, I'll work some some LS mates and see if we can fill in some of the holes (get a closs guess based on SP gain at least)
