I'll give the whaoo a try when i head back to town, its in my ret. You're the best. Laying money down that Wahoo is 6x Water, since that's pretty much the last fish and there's no R40 Water Crystal recipe. |

Wahoo will have to wait a bit to test (unless anyone else has one they can toss in their Alch set...) as I am 75k from R50 fishing and going hard with it to the end.
A couple of things I've noticed as I'm putting together my visual Fish - Alch guide...
Vongola Clams are listed twice... 4s > 12x Fire Shards and 5s > 1x Fire Crystal. Does this indeed offer both choices of synth?
Also, there appears to be perhaps a few other items we might be missing that would give some more combos. While its not always the case, SE does tend to offer 'even' distribution when it comes to things such as recipies. It would fit that perhaps in th 5s listings, we are missing 1 synth that would give a Earth Crystal (all the others have 2 (noting that fire seems to always have more). Further down the list some are loaded up with 3 synths for one type and others get just 1.
Only other thing i can think of is perhaps the dye-items from spearfishing could be put in there and turned into some crystals. (since other reagents like scorpions, tarantulas and vipers do). I'll look to try it out sometime in the next day or so.
However, Kudos to everyone who has helped on this project, its very good stuff and I look forward to adding a small piece to it for everyone to enjoy :D

Thanks for all the lists... I am going to see if we can add these to the items in the database as recipes... I know that part of the site is some what lacking and I would like to have all recipes on items that are gathered at least.
One thing I have been curious about is: Why do all the recipes use Lightning shards or crystals... Anyone have a guess as to why this is so? |

As far as why lightning, best guess is something similar to what crystals 'did' in XI. Each element had a 'property' associated with it in terms of what it did with various materials. Take Cul here in XIV. All fish cleaning uses Wind, for Alch, All fish transfiguring uses lightning. Who knows, pick up a hammer and apply some fire shards/crystals and see if fish give scales :p

They don't work. :( Also yes, Vongola clams have two recipes and I've synthed both. There's a few other inconsistencies I don't understand - the allagan snail and blacklip oyster yields aren't really consistent with the amount of mats used when you look at the rest of the chart, but I checked both of these personally before I added them and that's what the game says. /shrug |

Kida wrote:One thing I have been curious about is: Why do all the recipes use Lightning shards or crystals... Anyone have a guess as to why this is so? Most Desynthesis recipes in FFXI used a lightning crystal. There were some exceptions with wind crystals. I'm assuming this is something that carried over from that. Since we're turning fish into a base material, I guess that was their logic on "desynthing" a fish. |

Ok all, Here is the link to the visual listing I compiled showing shard use and results. It fits nicely on 1 page for easy viewing and refrence. CLICK HERE for the Alchemy using Fish Guideor https://docs.google.com/...FjYzg2OTA2Yjdk&hl=enIf you find any errors let me know. The guide itself will be updated as I put together some semblence of Leveling Fish/Alch at the same time and putting together some good listings of fishing pools that offer the best variety of fish for given shards/crystals people are looking to make. Also, something I've noticed. The SP gained/skill required to synth appears to be more based on the Fish's rank rather than the shards/cyrstals required to synth it. I hope to do a LOT more testing on this...almost done grinding....21k till R50 Fishing to go! Edited by user Thursday, December 23, 2010 4:04:04 PM(UTC)

Shika wrote:1C=alch rank 30 2C=alch rank 40 is wrong easily make both as lvl 23 alch Can you please post the fish you're using, the ALC rank you're synthing at, the amount of physical experience you get from the synth, and the starting and ending quality of the synth? About 60% of these recipes were tested and the ranks were determined using the known formula; I feel pretty confident the numbers are right but if you want to offer up some concrete evidence we can look a little further. |

Update:
Tarantulas are a 10S to 2x Lightning Crystal (not a 5S to 1xC) (i need to update my sheet too). At R20 Alchemy they gave 241-299 SP and were fairly easy to handle with Preserve, Makers Muse and Fullfillment.

Shika wrote:1C=alch rank 30 2C=alch rank 40 is wrong easily make both as lvl 23 alch These numbers are based on the input crystal taken. 1C in = 3C out and 2C in = 6C out (these are NQ results) My alchemy is 27 and I've been doing the recipes that require 1C. I guarantee you haven't done anything that requires 2C to synth with because they're Rank 40 recipes and it wouldn't even allow you to do them. I tried this with a Crimson Crayfish and can verify that. On a side note, I just want to thank everyone working on this project. It's been helpful for me to determine where to go fishing so I can level my alchemy along side of it. Once I've ranked up enough to go to Grade 5 I'll have to plot out my alchemy again. :) |
