This fatigue problem has happened to me while gathering, but I have a friend in the linkshell who says it's never happened to him... he said he's been mining for 11 hours straight today and has not been experience insta-fails. Any ideas on this?

A dev has explained the gathering fatigue system!

Quote:
...
there is an internal counter which measures how often a player has attempted gathering activities. Players will start with a maximum pool of 2,500, which will decrease by 10 each time a gathering attempt is successful and yields an item. Once this number decreases to 1,000, players will find it harder to obtain items. At 0, items can no longer be obtained through gathering.

Stopping gathering for some time will bump this number back up. The recovery rate is currently set at 100 per hour.

So it looks like the "wall" we hit where we start to fail more often is 1500 successful gathers. Therefore, 15 hours are needed to fully recharge, if you stop exactly at 1500 catches/hit the wall.

Hey Chevalier, you did that math a little wrong. You lose 10 every successful gather. You spend 1500 before you hit the wall, so you only have 150 successful catches before you hit fatigue. I don't know why they can't just divide all the numbers by 10...

to sum:

250 max "gathering points" where each point = item(s) gathered
-1 for every successful gather
+10/hour
@100 gather points, gathering becomes harder
@ 0 gather points, can not gather anything

so if you gather about 40items/hour (I don't what's a good rate), gather for 4 hours and then wait 15 hours to recharge. I guess with this system, the better/faster you are the less you get to gather...

Now is this for each class or a total for all 3?

The thread the dev commented on was about gathering fatigue in general, so I think its across all three classes. Thanks for fixing my math! :D

I think all DoL have their own counter. I have done 150 on botany and then another 150 on miner right away and hit fatigue on both of them after 150.

*Edit*
To prove my theory ill grind down botany down to 100% fatigue right now and then try to mine.

Hmm, well the thread was about gathering in general, and the mod asked the Devs about gathering fatigue. If they Dev answered about a specific class, it should have been stated wouldn't it? Which class do you think he was talking about if he was being specific to only one when asked about all three?

Here is the full quote:

Quote:

Hello fellow adventurers!

To clear up your questions, we have checked with the Dev. team and found out the following.

As a countermeasure against RMT activities, the probability of gaining items through gathering will start to decrease after repeated attempts over a long period of time. After a certain number of attempts, items will no longer be obtainable through gathering.

To explain a little more on what goes on behind the scenes, there is an internal counter which measures how often a player has attempted gathering activities.

Looks like a miscommunication here. The information was regarding all three DoL classes, like Chev said, but each class has its own pool of 2,500 points, like Nate said.
