I notice different sweet spots for different grades as well as for during leve and normal mining, what set is this list based on and what zone?

This is a generalized list drawn from all of the database entries. If you go to the map/log section, drill down to the specific node you are mining and click on it, it displays only the results for that particular node and therefore for that rank and area.

Obviously the data is only as good as the data entered into the database, so the more that is added, the more accurate it becomes :)

But will these differ from zone to zone and grade to grade?

I was under the understanding that an item would always have the same sweet spot no matter area, grade or rank... but this may be a misunderstanding?

I believe you are correct Kida in that the Sweet Spot does not change (regardless of zone or grade). However, for a leve it very well could be different. I did notice though on both mining and bot leve's, the ones where you have to get a HQ version of a item (take HQ iron ore x3 in Bloodshore). That if I was at -2 and got the quest item (HQ iron ore) that I recieved the "The item is right where you are mining" message. Now, I was always able to also get regular Iron ore there to with the same message. Makes sense to me.

As far as 'different sweet spots' Muadib (hurray dune!) its very possible to have multiple items in a given node that have the same sweet spot. For example (using fishing cause i was just at a pool Grade 3 in Horizon this morning) Box Turtles and River Crabs can both be fished out of this pool, and both have a sweet spot of -4.

As far as mining goes, since you can only stay in one node for so long, it can be a bit tricky to see the trends for various items.

Nodes of the same grade in the same zone absolutly have different items available to mine up. Mining (and bot) have such a wide range of available resources with no way to limit them. In order to help assist I would suggest that should you find a item and get the Sweet Spot message, check it against the list above. If the depth is the same as recorded here, great. If not, let us know. If you find a sweetspot for an item not listed, by all means post it so things can be tested and updated.

From what I've seen with mining, and to some extent on botany too, the sweet spots are the same. Even the leve-quest items come up in the same sweet-spots, which is why I posted back the sweet-spot for Mythril in another post on these forums.

As I mentioned above: "Obviously the data is only as good as the data entered into the database, so the more that is added, the more accurate it becomes" - if MuadDib has found differences, then he needs to log them into the database rather than question the data already in there :)

Tin ore is -1

I know a couple of the others too, but can't think of them off the top of my head .. These two I just verified in a quick foray, so they are accurate :)

A bit confused, 'Sweet Spot' doesn't necessary mean that it will not pop at other Notch locations, right? When I am just Grinding to Rank up, I always use the +2 Notch and I have gotten everything from Obsidian to Raw Lapis Lazuli. I have three stacks of Obsidian.

You are right. The Sweet spot just means that if you are using this location you will have a higher percentage chance to get the selected item. You will be able to get all the items at any location.

I have made a list of all the items given to grade 3 sweet spots for mining points. What Kida listed may be for grade 4 or grade 5 mining points. Each grade has its own set of items this i know since i cant get bone chips from a grade 3 when a grade 1 has them and you can't get gold from a grade 3 mining point. gold is more like grade 5. There are several items you can get for each sweet point. like if you are at -2 sweet spot and have 6 attempts you might get like iron ore, iron sand, limonte, copper, zinc, tin, and pyrite.

Hi, I did some mining for several days in the same spot attempting to HQ a black pearl out of them. and I don't know if this helps but i used to get the message that "you sense blacklip oysters right where you are mining" all the time after digging them out.

I can confirm Blacklip Oyster is +4.
Darksteel Ore, Platinum Ore and Wyrm Obsidian do not exist in game.
I'm sure Siltstone and Mudstone are quarry only, thus no sweet spot.

Garnet is +3 (I do not recall if sunstone is the same notch, or one higher/lower)
Peridot is -1 (I do not recall if malachite is the same notch, or one higher/lower)

Raw Amber, Diamond, Emerald, Iolite, and Zircon do not exist as a mining result.
