Hi fellow DoLers!

First off, I'd like to thank Truvy for her contributions and I'm sure many fishermen and women have found Truvy's Isle of Umbra resource to be absolutely fantastic, as did I. Love

I've been doing some exploring as well and testing and I found another location which has given me great results as well.

In Gridania, there is grade 10 body of water at Murmur Rills (9,36), which is southwest of Camp Crimson Bark. This whole area is fishable, as it is surrounded by water. The area I fish at is (10,35) or (11,35) which is a little stream of water rushing down. I'm fairly certain you can fish anywhere around Murmur Rills and still have the same results, but for me I really enjoy the fast stream of water when I fish because it makes me feel like a grizzly bear snatching fish out of water. The only mobs around here are goblins and they do not aggro. Very safe near the aetherial node as well. However, getting here from Crimson Bark is a bit tough because of the mobs that aggro (diremites and efts), but I had quickstride so I was able to blast through them easily. Flapper

Anyways, the lure that I use is wildfowl flies and and I set the depth to -4 to catch striped gobies. I get the "fish seem to be biting on wildfowl flies" and the "something big hits your line!" messages just as often I as I did at Isles of Umbra with sinking minnows. With fatigue and surplus, I was getting 270-290 per catch at rank 43. I will note my SP/hr here once my surplus resets in about two days. ThumpUp

The reason why I like this camp a lot is because sinking minnows are never sold at the market wards on my server, whereas wildfowl flies are usually available or much easier crafted than the minnows. Also, the Isles of Umbra is full of fish botters so I wanted to stay as far away from them as I could. Murmur Rills is usually all mine when I fish there.

Please give it a try and let me know how it goes! Again, thanks Truvy for inspiring me to explore more, and the wonderful contributions you have made to this site. Woot

UPDATE Laugh Drool
With surplus and fatigue gone, at rank 44 I was able to pull in 14k/hr here with Sweat of Brow. Good luck guys!

Excellent work ITRfaithful!

I will be heading back to twin pools sometime here in the near future, a grade 10 body of water that is surrounded by nasty inferno drakes and such. However, there are a few places along the banks (right by the teleport node) that so far have been safe. Again same freshwater G1 fish so your Wildfowl Flys should do well here.

A note on navigation to the node. Giving a wide space for the lizzards is key, they can look at you and not come charging so long as there is space. They don't seem to argo to sound (not 100% proven) but I seem to recall being able to duck behind some at much closer range than if they were looking at me and being ok

Oh, if you all are looking for freshwater Grade 10, then let me share with you the Grade 10 freshwater point in Mor Dhona. It is on the east bank of Silver Tears lake. You can see it on the maps here (I had it added). Most of the cliff is not fishable (no !) but if you keep running along the cliffs (I recommend running south along the edges) you'll find a few spots.

I didn't stay long as I was doing a larger fishing exploration of the region for the map. I know for sure that Pipira are easily fished up. Not sure what else is there. There is an aetherial point nearby if you have it / are willing to get it. Definitely not a convenient place to fish at often, but if you want something exotic with a beautiful view of the dead dragon, I recommend it.

There is also relatively safe Grade 9 freshwater fishing in Southern Coerthas (in the lake). Safe portion is the very north to avoid patrolling drakes.

About Rank 30 with appropriate stats and gear. You can try earlier, but you'll have a hard time getting bites.

Anyways regardless of the no bite when I tag a fish 300 sp!. Thx for the intel.ON a side note. Will it be faster if i use a frog lure and gun for brass loaches?

P.s gobbies love to hangout around me when I fish. Wonder if they wants some

OK, I had to register and thank the OP for this ThumpUp. I don't get as much chance to gather as I would like but it is nice to get out there on occasion.

For myself, I started here at about rank 16, yes I get a few misses (there are the odd run of up to 7 misses in a row) but especially after the sp increase it is still a worth while place to fish. When Sweat of Brow triggers 600sp per fish is very nice BigGrin.

Thanks Truvy for this guide. A few things:

-Hermes Boots is awesome to have for this.

-The bite rate overall is about 60% at Rank 27-28 (new moon)

-After some testing, I confirmed that Sinking Minnow is better than Floating Minnow, not just in bite rates, but the fact that the only thing biting Floating Minnows are Merlthor Gobies while Sinking seems to pull up Tiger Cods, Malm Kelp and Vongola Clams in addition.

-People were saying something about 400 to 600sp but I'm only getting 300sp on average (270sh to 330sh) which is a kind of cap I guess and should stay that way well beyond Rank 40.

I think 330 is the cap without Sweat of Brow going off.

Actually, I suggest fishing from R33-50 at grade-8 instead of grade-10. because there are other safer place that you can get max SP and don't have to run pass crab that can kill you in 1-hit.. ^^;

Never really had a problem with the crabs. They are too slow to react to hit me even if I'm not quickened. But other spots can be nice for SP AND good fish.

There is also a lovely grade 9 hole inside the cave in Western Thanalan (13,33) just north of the Silver Bazaar. Nothing agressive in there...just some higher level Cactuar's wandering about. Nice and quiet as no one ever goes in there.

U should change this to 15-50 fast leveling:
"Level 17 Rod + Floating Minnow"
@ Fishing 13:
1hr fishing grade 2: ~9k/hr
1hr fishing grade 10: ~8k/hr

@ Fishing 18:
1hr fishing grade 3: ~9k/hr
1hr fishing grade 10: ~9k/hr

@ Fishing 21:
1hr fishing grade 3/4: ~8k/hr
1hr fishing grade 10: ~9k/hr

Yes u have lots of miss casts but if you catch one = ~300Sp + 1200Exp. While leveling @ normal grade u have a lot of miss too or the "close to catches". And Sp is getting down after a while. But @ Grade 10 its the highest SP all the time. Even fatigued u get +250 SP. Cant wait for the fast casts. :)

Kinda boring staying there all the time but its worth in my opinion.

(sry for bad english)

Yup... sadly it does... until they raise the ranks it is believed that there will be no rank 6 to 10. So get your ranks up now.
