Good Morning all,
There has always been some speculation as to the effects of the moon, weather and the like on our daily activities in a SE game. XIV is no real exception. As it stands, this is the most difficult thing to track and prove since we are always inside of a 'random' generator that allows for a variety of outcomes. However, I don't think this aspect should be completly ignored.
Personally, I craft as I have mats and need to free space, outside of the realm of moon phases. I tend to craft things I don't fail at and ensure i use the correct support when needed.
However, those looking to see a higher amount of HQ items listen up, as this may be something to pay attention to: Crafting during a FULL and NEW moon _might_ have an effect on HQ results.
Not only that, but some indiciate it might affect different crafts differently.
The example i will use is a guildmate of mine who really wanted to make a +1 T-shell Hora. Using the same +1 mats for dozens of synths they were unable to make one. Deciding to give it a try, they waited until a FULL moon and in one session was able to go 5/10 +1 on them (enough to spread the love around the LS). Also grabbing a couple +3 Cactuar needles, he was able to make a few +3 1k Needles (I know, this one is pretty easy to HQ but still).
NOW: This is not open for flaming or trolling. I'm not saying this is right or wrong. I know this is a DoL site, but the filp side of that coin is DoH, and a good number of us like to use the Mats we gather to create. I post this only to hear of other stories (good or bad) when crafting specifically to try and make HQ items and your results. I would love to see:
A] ITEM NAME B] YOUR SKILL RANK C] MOON PHASE D] SUCESS/ATTEMPT Ratio (1/12, 3/12, etc) E] QUALITY TOTAL on the HQ'd items.
I have a feeling that if we start documenting a little of this, we might trend towards Moon Phase affecting these outcomes.
