Thank you all for such a great site with rich information, been looking for something like this for a while ;) As for the sweet spot for the fish in this forum, i noticed that the sweet spot of Monke Onke always at -4, but i've been fishing this fish for months now in Tranquil leve at -5, so i'll check today whether this fish exist in 2 depths or not. Glad to join u guys ;) Edit: Confirmed Monke Onke exist at both -4 & -5 Edited by user Sunday, January 23, 2011 6:57:09 PM(UTC)

Edit: Confirmed Monke Onke exist at both -4 & -5 Hi Tenji and welcome to the site. I am very happy that you find it useful. In regards to Monke Onke there may be something you need to know about sweet spots. I don't know if you know but the sweet spot is never the only depth/aim/notch where an item can be obtained. It is just the place where you will have the highest chance to get the item. When fishing at -4 you will have a better chance to obtain Monke Onke than if you are fishing at the other depths. Just a little heads up. |

Thnx Kida yeah i know that ;). But what i mean is at -4 you get the msg you find Monke Onke right where you are fishing, and at -5 you get the same msg. That's why i said Monke Onke has 2 sweet spots ;) Edited by user Monday, January 24, 2011 4:13:33 AM(UTC)

I believe its an error on their part, as it possibly has to do with the leve fish version of the monke. Its the only resource period that has been found (i believe) at an extreme (-5/+5).

This has been so helpful for me! It took me a while to figure out where Fresh Lobster would be though. I think it is -3. |

Been working on this spreadsheet for quite sometime. I needed something to consolidate all the info out there. So what this does is has the Sweet spots, the bait that is known to cause big hits (note here, im pretty sure that if a a lower grade fish bites on a higher grade bait for instance crayfish on herring balls, then it will also bite on all the subsequent lower grade bait until the fish and bait levels equalize) Also the cooking level needed to use the fish you catch to grind up your cooking is included, as well as the HQ results when you possess fishcleaning training. Next you have the alchemy level needed for cystal conversion as well as necessary lightning shards and the results. Hope you find having everything right at your fingertips works as well for you as it does for me. Also Im working on another spreadsheet that details all the cooking buffs and how to achieve tasty, delicious, and divine. If you dont know about this id suggest looking up Baxter Mergous on the lodestone and reading through his blogs. Well enough about that for now ill post more on that in the cooking forum. Enjoy! https://docs.google.com/...l=en&authkey=CJfEsgcedit: sry about that had the link configured incorrectly should be up and going now Edited by user Thursday, February 03, 2011 10:50:14 AM(UTC)

Now that I am 50 and go back to lower grades to farm ALC fish, anyone notice how fish prefer a certain jig location as well? Black Sole pull up middle for me more then any other. Off the top of my head I know a few others, coral pull far right.. so on so on.
I didn't notice it while grinding, but only as I go back to lower grade nodes. As more people hit 50 and run out of things to do would be nice to add to Location, Bait, Depth chart.
just my two cents.

just my two cents. I've noticed this as well grinding the higher level areas for SP. I was recording my findings but it was kind of inconsistent. The fish seemed to predominately bite in one spot, but then every once in a while would bite at one of the other extremes. Maiden Carp for example, tend to bite more in the middle, but can sometimes go to the left or right. Brass Loach bites more to the left but can go to the right. This information might be good to document because I would say at least 80% of the time, if you hit the right place you'll catch a certain fish. I think the other reason I didn't keep up with it is you usually have a selection of 4-5 fish to catch in one area, and if you can't distinguish between the stamina bars of certain fish, it's kind of going to be guess work anyway. Pipiras for example, start with a shorter stamina bar compared to brass loach, maiden carp, striped goby and crayfish. Having caught a lot of pipira, I notice that they bite predominately in the middle right of the jig bar. So those I can catch almost everytime jigging in the same spot. Sometimes they'll surprise you and move though. |

This has been seen in my various data collections as well. Its close to an 80% reliability of a given fish having a 'prefered' jig location followed by a 'reel in' location.
It doesn't seem to be affected by quality or quantity though, just a randomizer on occasion to thorw it off.
While it's tempting to fish in a mannor to guess what fish will be on the line and try to jig at their reel in location, i tend to find that approach leads to more losses.
Typically I follow this:
[0--10---35--50--70---90]
1) 1st Jig : @ [50%] 2) 2nd Jig: A) if message was "The fish has tired, but you still cannot reel it in." then: Hit at exact same spot [50%] B) If the above message doesn't happen, then there is just the normal "You have hooked soemthing but can't reel it in". Jig @ [35%]
3) 3rd Jig A) if message was "The fish has tired, but you still cannot reel it in." then: Hit at exact same spot [35%] B) if message was "You take in some line" {GOING THE RIGHT WAY} then: goto Step 4 C) if message was "The fish is taking line" {GOING THE WRONG WAY} then: goto Step 5
4) 4th Jig (Right way) Jig @ [10%] one of 2 things will happen: A) You will reel in the fish B) You will get the message The fish has tired, but you still cannot reel it in." then: Hit at exact same spot [10%] (You WILL reel in the fish this time)
5) 4th Jig (Wrong way) Jig @ [70%] one of 3 things will happen: A) You will reel in the fish B) You will get the message The fish has tired, but you still cannot reel it in." then: Hit at exact same spot [10%] (You WILL reel in the fish this time) C) You will get the message "You take in some line" then: goto Step 6
6) 5th jig (Last Jig) Jig @ [90%] one of 3 things will happen: A) You will reel in the fish B) You will get the message The fish has tired, but you still cannot reel it in." then: Hit at exact same spot [10%] (You WILL reel in the fish this time IF you have enough remainder for another jig) C) You will lose the fish (Not enough remainder left. If you can't make this 5th jig, then you need to:
* Increase your Fishing Level * Increase your Dex * Wear maximum "Gathering" * Repair your gear * Eat "Gathering" food (Cooked Vegie Dishes) * Change to a lower Grade of water * Target a Lower Rank fish
(13) Spinach Saute Ice: 23 Mnd: 28/29
(15) Jack-o'-lantern Ice: 25 Mnd: 31/32
(16) Roasted Nopales Ice: 26 Mnd: 32/33
(35) Sauerkraut Ice: 45 Mnd: 57/58

I don't want to be a downer but your chart is missing Wahoo.
I can attest to their depth being +1.
I don't think anyone else mentioned it and I haven't noticed anything else missing.

I looked at the original list and it is missing the Dart Frog from fishing. It can be fished as well as spearfished. It is at +4 like the tree toad.
The place I normally get them is the node at the large Emerald Moss lake. Dart Frog is also in the Fishing Emerald Moss leve. I only add this incase someone wants to verify it. Crow flys work very well. They can't be fished off-node.
