As stated in other post I have begun crafting a bit. So far I have not gotten far but I have Leatherworker and Weaver at rank 7. I have some gear that I want to repair and some items I can repair while others are to hard for me. Do any one know if there is some formular that lets me know what gear to repair? I think I saw crafting rank + 10 some where but I can't remember where I saw it and it seems that I can sometimes do better (ie. repair rank 17 items at rank 6). Do any of you know? As I understand this -> half of item's optimal rank is needed:
e.g. Bamboo Fishing Rod Optimal Rank: 22
-> Rank 11 Woodworking needed to repair this.

As a somewhat accomplished crafter, I've learned that for both Weaving and Leatherworking it's a bit easier. If you can make the fent/spetch the item needs, you can definitely attempt to repair it. For Carpentry, it's not as easy, cause you can get Branches from Botany, and Branches repair a lot of things. at r38 Carpenter, I've been able to repair everything, even a Crab Bow +1. There was a belief that you needed at least 5 under the optimal rank of an item to repair a +1, but I can tell that much is NOT true.
So, who knows? the -10 doesn't seem to always apply, but I haven't been able to test the half of the rank theory very well.

I believe it is 10 levels under the rank you can make the equipment, or 10 levels under the rank you can equip the equipment, whichever comes first. (i can repair some stuff 13 levels higher then me, also with elemental staffs,, i hear they can repaired at 20 leather (depending on which one)). so yea :/
GL with it :D |

Your craft level has to be within 10 levels of the optimal rank of the item you're trying to repair, else it won't even let you attempt to repair it. It's pretty random whether it'll work or not, but I imagine the closer your craft skill is to the optimal rank, the easier it'll be. I've had spurts where I've been over the optimal rank and failed 2-3 times in a row, and others where I'm barely in range to repair it and it succeeds every time. Here it is, Orophin got it right: http://lodestone.finalfa...41feb8835f7dbfe409a7fe16"This is determined by either the synthesis rank or the optimal rank of the item. If both are present, the lesser of these two values is used. If your crafting rank is equal to or higher than the repair rank, then success is virtually guaranteed. If it is less, however, you may attempt to repair the item, but the chance of success decreases for each rank disparity. It is not possible to attempt repairs when this disparity is greater than ten." "The rank required to repair differing quality versions of the same item does not change. The odds of success, however, are calculated differently. For example, a rank 20, +2 high-quality item is considered as a rank 22 item for the sake of repairs. Attempting to repair such an item at rank 20 will result in a somewhat diminished chance of success. That being said, this "assumed" rank is not the item's true rank, and repairs may therefore be attempted from as early as rank 10 rather than rank 12."
