I check "Map and Logs" and found that those 2 very important item to product lighting crystals only drop in one location?
-The location for Indigo Herring is fishing school, so my friend has problem fish it for me, althought his rank is over 35.
-The location is black sole yield it at very low rate, because my friend tried it all day and he doesn't get one...

So I wonder if there is any other place to get black sloe/Indigo Herring ?
-higher grade area might have more of them?
-any other spot that can find them? so for "Map and logs" only list 1 location.

Indigo herring is a pain as it has to be fished from a school (and in the zone, only 1 of the schools has it).

Black Sole are very easily caught on the docks (just past the on the dirt road) of the Ferry (Uldah side). When entering the docks, log out and then back on so the ferry will never pick you up. You set your depth for -4 and fish away (Grade 3 Saltwater). Spoon lures, cage feeders, floating minnows etc all work great and i tend to get 2 to 1 Black Sole and Hammerhead Sharks (Also Tiger Cod, Kelp, and the rare occasional Ocean Cloud will slip in there too.)

Black Sole is R46 fish, should I be rank 40+ before I go try it? or I can try it at rank 17 now? because it is grade-3 area only..

You will be able to hook them at R17, but you won't get much stamina to work with, when I tried them at R30 i lost a few due to that even :/

I tested it today

It is weird that most of the time, even tho I can "tired" it in the first jig, I still lose all stamina. Then, there was one lucky time that I "tired" it the same way on first jig and successfully fish it up. I m not sure about the reason behind this.

Level + Dex + Gear + Skills + Fish Rank Target

All factor into the reduction of the remainder of a given fish. Being that it's a grade 3 water, being 30 isn't a bad idea. Like you pointed out, you can get luck and pick the jig spot right away, tire the fish, and hit the spot again for a reel in.

yes, but it is weird on the part that it happened 3 attempt. (totally like that, it show the sound that you jig correct spot)
However, one attempt get black sole. the another 2 attempt lost it.

not a wierd as you might think, the factors arn't 'static' so to speak. Numbers in the formulas have high/low ends. This just means you are in the middle of that and can benefit/fail depending on the roll of the dice.

when we speak of consistancy or 'good' spots, it usually means you will have enough of the numbers so that you suceed even if your roll's end up on the low side.

to touch briefly on your choice of fish, if you fish too far out of your skill level you are not going to be able to farm efficiently.

for better farming results try these fish:
nether newts (3 lightning crystal)
http://www.disciplesofth...com/ItemView.aspx?id=485
bone crayfish (3 lightning crystal)
http://www.disciplesofth...com/ItemView.aspx?id=593
box turtles (2 lightning crystal)
http://www.disciplesofth...com/ItemView.aspx?id=594

If you need the 3 lightning crystal fish for alchemy skill up, farm nether newts, they are common in Cassiopeia hollow. (Depth -3)

black sole as the others have recommended might be too high for you, and possibly your friend to fish up consistently.

again if you are looking for alchemy skill up, you can use the crimson crayfish that also come from Cassiopeia hollow (6 wind crystal) (depth -4)

Thank for suggestion. My alchemist is quite high and only want rank 40+ recipe now. Crimson crayfish might be the way to go, if can not get black sole.

Crimson Crayfish are the lowest grade fish (Grade 4) you can catch for R40 alchemy recipes. Everything else would have to be obtained from Grade 5. I've found you can reliably fish from Grade 4 around Rank 2. I'm not sure which of the Grade 4 locations yield the best amount of Crimson Crayfish, but Cassiopeia Hollow or Nophica's Wells might be good since both locations have fish mixed in that produce lightning crystals when synthed.

Black Sole became much easier around rank 35. A LS mate believed R35 was also ideal for him in catching these up.

At R17 fishing you will not do well in Grade 4 water.

You will want to have atleast 22-23, and once you are 25, then you will have the Nophica Wells leve that starts to send you there, and you will definitely get crimson crayfish from that.

If your main priority is Alchemy SP, at R17 fishing, you may be better off still spearfishing dart frogs, which I am guessing, is how you got to R17 in the first place.

I would say to even have a reasonable shot at reeling in fish from Grade 4 you'd need to be R22 with a Bamboo Rod and nice gathering gear.
