I have been looking for some free software to capture ingame video. I would like to make a video for the guide showing how fishing is done but I have not been able to find any free software that will do this.

If any of you have any experience with this please let me know as I would really like to add this to the guide.

I am normally playing windowed.

When working with Origin, we used FRAPS or Camtasia Studio to capture the movies, make guides, etc

I bought a FRAPS license years ago, when I was playing WoW, so that's going on 6 years. Think it was $15, gotten every upgrade since then free of charge. I've tried others since then; some were faster, but lacked quality. Some were higher quality, but were so CPU intensive that I couldn't play and record. FRAPS has been the best all around app for capturing 3D apps.

And if you want to record desktop stuff, like browser demos, get Jing from Techsmith. 5 minute limit on the free version, but that's usually plenty for quick "how do I fill out this god dang log form?" type responses.

Fraps works pretty well, but I have a full version of it a friend passed on to me. Here's some videos I recorded (only at 480 resolution max, having issues encoding 1080):
