Ok im just wondering about a few things, on the site it says caught via fishing and spearfishing. I know for sure you can spearfish them but i cant stand the running around but it also states you can fish them up. Iv checked a few of the stated places with the stated bait but cant seem to catch any, also theres no info on depth too so are these still fishable? any ideas? thanks.

No Dart Frogs can only be obtained through Spearfishing. I have updated the item in the database.

If you check the maps you will find the places they can be found. I believe there may be some more places in Thanalan it can be obtained but mostly you will find them in the Black Shroud.

I might add they are VERY pleantiful in the Black Shroud.

Also a nice 'trick' for harvesting resources from Spearfishing nodes. Generally speaking, there are usually only 1 maybe 2 spearfishing nodes that will be close by. To keep harvesting them over and over as fast as you can, gather from other types of nodes 2x to refresh the ability to gather from the spearfishing node.

To better improve on the speed of this, when gathering from the non-spearfishing nodes, do it naked and with a Level 1 tool. This will minimize your output stat and hopefully grant you only 1 or 2 attempts. Since you have to 'fully' gather from these other 2 nodes before the spearfishing node will be available again, to make it go as fast as possible, you want to minimize the number of times you HAVE to attempts the non-spearfishing ones.

With primary gathering speeds having been increased, its best if you try to find a spearfishing node near a couple of them.

I was able to catch Dart Frogs via the Finding Fishing Points leve in Emerald Moss, but that's the only way I've found to catch them. I also haven't done the leve in a long time and don't know if it's been altered to where you can catch them on this leve anymore or not.

Not that it's relevant now, but back when you could fish with the opposite bait type for the water, I caught a lot of these and stashed them away for alchemy later on.

ok thanks, back to spearing then! lol. fyi theres 2 lvl 1 nodes just NE of blackbrush, you spear those 2 then theres a quarry spot right by 1 of the spearing nodes causing the cycle to refresh. Perfect for me because i can also farm the muddy water +3 here too for void glue. thanks anyway for quick response.

So, which spot is the best spot to find dart frog?

Because post above mention they are plenty in black shroud, while the post above says Thanalian is very good too.

Could anybody give me suggestion? ^^;

Was a while back but I think I spearfished a decent amount at very low rank (less than rank 10) near Emerald Moss in the rivers.

I've speared well over 1k Dart frog's and I do them at Emerald Moss. There are 3 rivers surrounding Emerald Moss aetheryte and dowse can be used to get to all of them, I just cycle those 3.

I ended up doing Camp Nine Ivies, as i was leveling ALC which was 49 and they also gave Bugs which i could skill off so it was win win. Theres 3 points around bentranch and the same with emerald moss if your just targeting dart frogs or if your low level.

Dart frogs can be obtained from the Fishing Emerald Moss leve. They can also be obtained by fishing at the node in the large lake near Emerald Moss (the same lake you go to for the above leve).

What I used to do would be:
1. Pick up the leve quest at Gridania.
2. Teleport to Emerald Moss.
3. Start the Leve.
4. Run to the Spearfish site and spearfish.
5. Run to the lake and fish at the node (you run past it for the leve) at Depth +4 to target Dart Frog. Crow fly is good for bait.
6. Hit the 3 points for the leve, again target Depth +4 for the frogs.
7. Once leve is complete, don't port back to the crystal. Since you gathered 3 spots for the leve, you can go back to the Node and fish for frogs again.
8. At this point you can run back to the spearfish point OR what I used to do was plan to have the leve be the last thing I was going to do for the night. After fishing the Node the second time I would log out for the night and then when I logged back in I could fish the node one more time.

Doing this you can get about 50 frogs per leve cycle with pretty minimal time investment. Its much quicker than spearfishing. With 50 frogs you get about 80 alchemy synths, a reasonably long leveling grind.

Morch, thanks for that, I'll give it a go.

Anyway, my experience for Dart Frogs is OK. I can get them in the grade 2 nodes in both Black Shroud and Thaanlan (although I suspect they are only in 2 of the Thanalan nodes) but I don't find them plentiful. It could be my fishing is too low (only 21) but I get lots of other stuff and few frogs. I also dislike the Emerald Moss nodes as I get aggroed by the mobs near 2 of the points.

I suspect I need to get my fishing a bit higher, anyone got an extra couple of hours you could put into the day for me? Woot.
