Very new at all gathering, and was wondering if someone can give me some help here for leveling mining and botany r6 -> r20+ in uldah region.

1) For now I am just trying to level fast do not care about what items I get. Should I just find the closest possible 3 nodes and keep doing them over and over?

2) What rank do you move to the next grade for best SP gain? Like what rank do I start grade2 and grade 3

3) kinda similar as 2, but what rank do I start doing say a r20 leve?

Thanks for any answers or any additional help on lvling these fairly quick up to 20ish.

3) i started doing higher leve quests as soon as possible and it worked always to my advantage.
2) if you find botany nodes close together/have over 3 attempts on a tree you could use next higher nodes early. personally i moved to next ranks @ 8, 18, 28. now @ 35 and i like doing r4 more than r5 but i will check it out on each level i get. 4 attempts on higher rank tree is a good meassure i think.

1) i think that would be the best way. i leveled mainly in gridania areas and was in no rush. for a week i traveld from city to city though to do all leves which was a nice boost. considering the travel time though (i walked) staying in one place is just as good. don't be afraid to use harvesting spots to level. they give less sp but are faster to harvest than logging often.

good luck with your botanic self ;)

I know you said you don't care about what items you get, but especially when it comes to botany, this is a great gathering class to skill and make money starting from R1.

You just have to keep an eye on your economy. Check the market wards here and there and learn the basics of gathering and you can make some decent money right from the start.

Grade 1 trees in the black shroud an grade 2 trees in la noscea will yield you willow logs. Which sell for 3k on Lindblum, since carpenters need them for easy skill ups on Willow Masks.

Grade 3 trees in the black shroud or la noscea will start to yield you oak logs. Which sell for around 4k a log on Londblum. Since carpenters need them for easy skill ups on Oak Masks.

Grade 4 trees in Coerthas and La Noscea will start to yield you Yew Logs. Which sell for 6k on Lindblum. Since Carpenters need them for easy skill ups on Yew Masks. Grade 4 trees in The Black Shroud and La Noscea will yield Walnut Logs, which sell for around 8k on Lindblum, since Carpenters need them for easy skill ups on Walnut Masks. Grade 4 trees in The Black Shroud and La Noscea also still yield Oak Logs.

Grae 5 trees in Coearthas will yield you Oak Logs an Yew Logs. In La Noscea you'll get Oak Logs.

You could find some Oak Trees in Thanalan too, but they're pretty rare here, compared to other areas.

Next point is, when to start moving to the next area.

You'll get your skill to sense trees close to you at 8, 18, 28 and 38. This could be taken as an criteria when to move to the next area. Some people already move to the next spots at lower levels.

You've to remember that, as lower your Rank is, the less trys you've on a higher spots. This can be a bit adjusted if you get yourself a gear with alot of Output.

If you don't care about alot of running, and the fact, that you don't have a skill to sense near trees, then you can already move even if you're a bit to low for the choosen area.

I prefer to stay in the areas best for my rank. Means: 1-8 grade 1 trees. 8-18 grade 2 trees. 18-28 grade 3 trees. 28-38 grade 4 trees and 38-50 grade 5 trees.

You've alot of trys on one tree. You don't have to run that much. You get decent SP and, as for botany, decent money.

I only started skilling mining myself recently. So i can't say much about that. But what i can say is: Iron Ore sells for 3k a piece on my Server (Lindblum). So there should be some money in there too. You just have to check your market! =)

Ok after trying gathering out a bit and taking miner and botanist to 16 I have 1 serious problem and a couple more questions,

1) I keep damaging the item way too much. This situation is happening way too often: Your strike damaged the iron ore (iron ore are above) -> so I move the notch up. Next harvest: Your strike damages the bone chip (bone chips are below) etc etc. How do I have this not happen so much...? (And no my gear is not damaged)

2) People have said to find a good "triangle" and keep doing those 3 nodes. Or that say a certain area like skull valley is best for grade 2 because of lots of close triangles. How is that even possible? I understand finding a good triangle but it never lasts, the nodes dont repop eventually?

1) First thing to do would be to raise your gathering skill with gear.
But keep in mind that after you gained a certain amount of sp (or it might be time ) you will hardly be able to mine/log successfully since you hit a wall. this happens to crafting classes too (items get really hard to synth). if you then wait about 2 hours you will get better results again. This currently happnes to me after 20k SP @ rank38

2) small triangles mean less running that is right. sometimes using an offhand-node greatly reduces the size of such a triangle. the nodes drop eventually that is right and you can not prevent them to. only thing to do is enjoy having the nodes close together while it lasts ;) in botany you get the skill Green Mind which reduces the depletion rate of a location. (Stone Resolve as miner i think). this will help maintaining a node or getting rid of one faster a little.

Can anyone give me a bit more info on the duration of this "gathering fatigue" where u break stuff way easier. Like how long it takes to reset? And if its shared between mining / botany or is it seperate?

Also anyone suggest the best place to start tier4 early easiest, so I can find most nodes without the abilities?

Fatigue is seperate.

Best place imo for grade 4, both mining and botany, when you are trying to geto prior to 28, would be Humblehearth.

I personally did all grade 4 areas prior to 28 for Botany, but mining is more difficult. The way the Black Shroud areas are layed out, they are almost always the easiest to find nodes in.
Humblehearth is not as easy as Treespeak, but is still easiest.
