I was doing a little shopping today and noticed that the high quality tools have the same stat numbers next to them... only they have stars next to the numbers. Is there any concrete data on how much affect the additional stars have? Is it worth using a lower level tool with stars rather than upgrading? And does high quality DoL gear have stars for gathering/perception/output or is it just the tools?

+1 gear gives a +10% increase in stats with stars next to them
+2 gear gives a +15% increase
+3 gear gives a +20% increase
At least that's the last I've heard. If it's changed, I didn't hear about it.
At lower levels, HQ doesn't make a large difference. If the baseline is 25 gathering, a +3 would only bump it up to a 30. And with the increased wear rate of non optimal gear now, I would stick to whatever's the closest to your level.
If I'm thinking right though, the only thing worth getting HQwise are the tools. Doesn't effect any +craftsmanship stats in gear which is unfortunate. |

Ive heard 5-10% per star. and yeah only tools are worth getting HQ

Also keep in mind that + tools require extra levels to be able to get the full benefits from them.
a R32 +1 tool is more like a R33 tool. (This was mentioned somewhere a long time ago so i'll look for the source of this info)

I could be wrong though.

Horn Fishing Rod +1 gives 4 extra stat points compared to NQ. So, 73 for each stat instead of 69. Just bought a +1 and tested. |
