Clever Arch, Deft Grasp, Master of Fish, Llymlaen's Ward, Thaliak's Ward, Tidal Faith, and Truth of Seas are actually items purchased with the guild mark system. At least they were in phase 3 of beta. For anyone who doesn't know guild marks are form of currency used by the guilds that can be later used at the guild's mark shop. The way you earn guild marks is by completing guildleves for that guild that has guild marks as a reward.

thanks for the info... I heard that in beta they all had the price of 500 guild marks. But I have not been able to confirm this (and it could change before release).

Nature's Bounty is now rank 15. Way of Plenty is no longer rank 15, but I don't know what rank it is now.

Thank you for this list.

I am also interested in obtaining guild marks but haven't seen any yet thrown my way after doing some quests for Fisher.

thanks again for the info on abilities.

Anyone have any idea how the rank10 traits are triggered?
Specifically Veteran Trade.

It just appears to be so random...

Quote:
Lv10 - Veteran trade
Increases your chance to hit items aimed for while gathering.

This might indicate that it triggers off your last catch, because how can they know what I'm targeting?
However...
I have seen it trigger after a few no bites in a row.

It's random. The aimed for while gathering, just means mining/logging/fishing. It has no effect and will not trigger for quarrying/harvesting/spearfishing.

Also I've see it last for one cast, and I've seen it last for ten casts.

In Open Beta Dowse III was not automatically given to you at Rank 20.

This ability can be purchased for guild marks at the Fishing Guild, so I think that is how you obtain it and you can only equip it if you are Rank 20.  I got all the way to Rank 26 in Open Beta and I still hadn't been awarded the ability so I don't think its a question of the necessary Rank changing. That would put it really far away from Gulleye III, which incidently, was automatically given to you at Rank 18.

Unfortunately, I only got one Leve which had a guild marks award and I messed up which old Leves I traded in and was 3 marks away from being able to buy something at the Guild!

edit: looks like the issue below has been fixed, keeping for posterity! Still interested about whether other DOL traits transfer.

A really wierd thing has been happening this week in retail. I've levelled both Alchemy and Cooking past rank 10, so learnt my first crafting abilities : Preserve and Harmonize. Now because the game no longer unequips your Traits when you change class, Preserve and Harmonize stay on the bar...

...and then proceed to proc just like Veteran's Trade and Nature's Bounty.

What the hell!? I'll try to remember to take a snap of it tonight. I don't think this is working as intended! They seem so specific to crafting.

I wonder if it is hampering me, would Veteran's Trade or Nature's Bounty have kicked in instead at that time or do they act independently? Of course I could just take them out myself.

Edit: I've only fished but I wonder if something similar happens with, for example, a Botany trait on the bar. If so then is it just a redundant flash of light or does it have an effect on fishing. The way they work with crafting is that they are meant to be used on other disciplines of the hand.

Guild Marks Cost:

These are all that were available. This is obviously less than the complete abilities list. I do not know if more abilities will be unlocked at a higher level or if this is all there is now.

(6000) Thaliak's Ward Temporarily increases your chance to obtain water crystals.
(6000) Lymlaen's Ward Temporarily increases your chance to obtain wind crystals.
(6000) Dowse III Survey the landscape to discern the number and direction of schools of fish grade 3
and below in the area. Increases movement speed when far.
(8000) Wavekin Eluder Temporarily avoid enemy encounters. Effective only against wavekin.
(8000) Deft Grasp Temporarily increases your dexterity.
(8000) Tidal Faith Temporarily increases your piety.
(8000) Dowse IV Survey the landscape to discern the number and direction of schools of fish grade 4
and below in the area. Increases movement speed when far.
(10000) Clever Arc Slows the rate at which a gathering location's remainder decreases.
(10000) Dowse V Survey the landscape to discern the number and direction of schools of fish grade 5
and below in the area. Increases movement speed when far.
(12000) Master of Fish Increases your chance to obtain high quality items while gathering.

How does Wavekin Eluder work? I've equipped it but it says I can't cast it on myself?

You use it on the mob. So it only stops one mob sadly :/

I recently bought Master of Fish and am very disappointed so far :/ anyone else feel it doesn't so much, if anything?

Master of Fish is _okay_ if you dont have ANY other abilities set. It doesn't seem to proc as oftan as the others, but i'm fairly sure that it shares the 'random' pool with other equiped abilities. Being lessor proc chance than the other ones, it almost never happened.

When it does proc, it gets some HQ items somewhat more oftan than not. I really only use this when i'm hunting for +3 Red Corals for LS mates to make bows.

For those still ranking up like me, Dowse IV, V, and VI can be used at any level. I bought IV at 25 and was surprised to see I was able to use it, and I just bought V and it is working great. :)

I have edited the OP. Please take a look at let me know if you find any errors. It is hard to find a correct list anywhere so I have to go a bit on what I know and what has been posted previously.

I have a IV ranking and I am planning to buy a VI. Is this a better than IV and what are the more specifications added in VI? Can anyone suggest me?
