I have been looking at how items in the game are constructed because I wanted to expand the database and make it more informative... It has been a long time coming and some changes are needed.

I ran into an item that has me a bit confused:

The thing that confuses me is that it has Evasion: 1 AND Evasion: +2

The same goes for Brass Earring ( http://ffxiv.zam.com/en/...m.html?ffxivitem=9030003 ), Silver Earring ( http://ffxiv.zam.com/en/...m.html?ffxivitem=9030004 ) and Electrum Earring ( http://ffxiv.zam.com/en/...m.html?ffxivitem=9030005 ).

Now how am I to understand this? Are there two different stats for Evasion? Is evasion = 3 for Copper Earring?

As far as I can find these four items are the only items that have duplicate stats but I could be wrong. I must I admit that I have not seen the item in the game after I found this but many sites confirms that this is how it is but I have no idea why it would be there twice.

Can someone elaborate on this?

Ok so there's two possible ways that this system will work. First I'll explain about the initial stats.

Every piece of armor has

Defense:
Magic Defense:
Evasion:
Resilience:


This is just because that's how NQ/+1/+2/+3 work, those are the only parts influenced by the HQ system. So that's you're base stats.

As for the Evasion +2 on copper earring there is two different ways to look at it (i haven't done tests so i'm not sure which it is).

The first system I will explain is how FFXI evasion worked.

Every class had Evasion Skill (consider this the main base stat from the earring (1)). Then ontop of that you were able to get evasion + gear. This was equivalent to 2 evasion = 1 evasion skill. (i think that was the formula, don't quote me on it though). So if SE used that type of system then this earring would technically be equivalent to 2 Evasion Skill (1 from the base stat, and 1 from the +2 evasion).


The second system is that they just put it there for god knows what reason, and that it is actually equivalent to

Defense: 2
Magic Defense: 1
Evasion: 3
Resilience: 1


Most likely I'd think the second system would be the one they are using, thankfully it's easy enough to check, just go ingame, take note of you're evasion, equip it, if it goes up by 3 its that system. If that's the case then SE really fails at how they've done it
