Greetings fellow fishers, on the patch update 1.17 u can see one of the notes states the following: [dev1039] When the three below conditions are met in regards to the grade and difficulty of a gathering attempt, the "sweet spot" of the approach phase will be in a fixed location. 1. Class rank 2. Values of VIT for miners, STR for botanists, and DEX for fishers 3. Bait and lures (for fishing only) ex.) At a certain grade and difficulty, having the appropriate rank, DEX value, and bait/lure will ensure that jigging the rod precisely in the middle will result in a black eel hit. Source: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/7032anyone can clarify this ?

This should answer your question.
Posted by a dev on the official forums:
Hello fellow adventurers!
To clear up your questions, we have checked with the Dev. team and found out the following.
As a countermeasure against RMT activities, the probability of gaining items through gathering will start to decrease after repeated attempts over a long period of time. After a certain number of attempts, items will no longer be obtainable through gathering.
To explain a little more on what goes on behind the scenes, there is an internal counter which measures how often a player has attempted gathering activities. Players will start with a maximum pool of 2,500, which will decrease by 10 each time a gathering attempt is successful and yields an item. Once this number decreases to 1,000, players will find it harder to obtain items. At 0, items can no longer be obtained through gathering.
Stopping gathering for some time will bump this number back up. The recovery rate is currently set at 100 per hour.

Actually its good for us and bad for bots. Without the limit bots could gather 24/7. As it stands bots can only gather for a few hours. As long as everyone else. So, yeah.
good job devs for protecting the markets from inflation and allowing normal players to compete in the gathering market. |
