Hello All,
While out in G3 waters of Bloodshore trying to confirm some Big Bite Jig Locations, I reeled in a Deaspected Crystal along with a handful of Sea Pickles.
I know people had been getting these along with drops from various mobs, was just curious if anyone else has gotten these from their gathering efforts.

Funny you mention it, today was the first time I ever got one. It was during some grade 1 gathering in Thanalan. Not sure when it happened. Noticed the crystal when I was vendoring.

They havent said yet, my hunch is it will be either a somewhat rare world drop for crafting, or for re-charging/repairing some new gear.
Or could be for an event to come. I've only gotten 1 in about 500 reel ins now, so not the most common thing in the world

Hello i'm New ^^
got one the day before yesterday mining West of Camp Emerald Moss (rank 12)
and two in last hour fishing (salt water) at Aleport (rank 15)
no clue as to what they do.

i suspect they drop as normal crystals would. As in when we do dol stuffs we get extra shards and in killing monsters when they drop shards

I got 2 of these fishing Isle of Umbra. I got them from a total of 300 fishing attempts. |

i have 5 from fishing sole for the last 2 days. Not sure how many cats but i know its a bunch. I dont think its related to any of the new things yoshi has been talking about, because he said that the catalyst item needed for stuff is only from DoL. And ppl are getting them from killing stuff. Maybe for some new tech?

Yeah these appear to be random world drops (gathering and loot tables). I can't wait to see what they do (perhaps something with Companies and the new dungeons/instances)

After gathering a solid handful of these me and my fellow fisher and best friend had a long smoke session and talked about many things in the game namely being the Deaspected Crystals. What we figure after talking and comparing back to FFXI and their usual mindset and also that the crystals don't go into the crystal side of the pack leads me to believe a few things. First that they are probably recharged using shards of one color or more likely with all colors to make a prismatic crystal for use of high end craftables. We figure no matter what the use it will require ample shards or crystals to create but will likely be something people will be seeking. So hold onto them everyone, not like i needed to say that lol.  |
