Ok Santa...er....SE...here is what I would like to see:

Each DoL class gains a series of new abilities (automatically by rank or with purchase of a book with marks) that will allow the player to 'attune' themselves with a particular node so that it will show on their maps. Further enhance this with existing abilities to allow those attuned-nodes to glow on the map if they are active.

EXAMPLES:

Mining -

R5 Survayor I
Allows you the chance to become attuned to Grade 1 Mining and Quarrying nodes, marking them permamently on your map.

R15 Survayor II
Allows you the chance to become attuned to Grade 2 Mining and Quarrying nodes, marking them permamently on your map.

R25 Survayor III
Allows you the chance to become attuned to Grade 3 Mining and Quarrying nodes, marking them permamently on your map.

R35 Survayor IV
Allows you the chance to become attuned to Grade 4 Mining and Quarrying nodes, marking them permamently on your map.

R45 Master Survayor
Allows you the chance to become attuned to Grade 5 Mining and Quarrying nodes, marking them permamently on your map.

These would be considered either Passive Skills or Traits. If its done this way, then after [X] number of sucessful gathers for the same 1 node, you become attuned to it and it gets marked on your map (will show a faint mark on the mini map too ...all able to be adjusted in the menus to chance the color of the type of node and if they are on/off.) Possibly even a random Proc-skill...so when it procs you have say a % chance that you become attuned to that node.

SUB-EXAMPLE 1:

[Player] is a level 30 Miner who has both Survayor I and Survayor II. They are mining a Grade 1 node and during that session they gather from that node sucessfully for the 20th time. The player now becomes attuned to this node and can see it on their map, even if its not active.

or

Same setup, but if being used as a 'active' proc-skill, lets say Survayor procs while mining a node. So long as you are sucessful in this gather attempt (maybe even slightly harder now) you have a 50% of becoming 'attuned' to it.

NOW...so players can get nodes marked on their map, so what?

NOW...enhance Prospect. Using prospect will not only give your the standard nodes in what directions and possible quick ability, but will LIGHT UP/GLOW/BLINK those attuned nodes on your map THAT ARE ACTIVE so you can see right where to go (displayed on both mini map and large map.)


Copy this feature over for Bot and Fish and I'd think you'd have some pretty happy gatherers.


FURTHERMORE:

When gathering from a node that you are attuned to...i think we should have a small pop-up window open that shows:

* Items we personally have recieved from this node
* Depth of an item we have personally verified

This info could be viewed on the main map as well by clicking on a attuned node to see that popup. Maybe even give you the feature to 'name' your nodes for easy refrence.
