I found this thread on gamerescape and this last post was a nice tidbit of info. I'll put up the link to the thread first then quote the post I found helpful. the whole threadQuote:Honestly I agree with the OP that party recruitment and seeking invites is way too complicated. But, It actually is possible to both flag your party as recruiting and flag yourself as seeking invites. The problem is just that the features are buried and overly complicated. Myself and a friend did some tinkering last night. Here are some instructions on how it works because I haven't seen anyone explain how it works anywhere at all... Feel free to spread this around as no one is using the system at all.
1. Party 2. Recruit 3. Change Purpose to Seek Invite 4. Specify location or leave as none 5. Type a message for party leaders (search comment) 6. Begin Recruiting
You will be flagged and visible when people search for your class for the next 60 minutes.
To set your party as seeking members:
1. Party 2. Recruit 3. Change Purpose to Quests, Regional Levequests, Local Levequests, Instances Raids, or leave as none 3. Specify location or leave as none 4. Conditions button allows you to set specific classes, rank range, and number of people. The + and - button allows you to add more of these 5. Once you have set a number of people, the Message button becomes active and you can type a recruitment message (search comment) for people looking for party to see.
Your party, conditions, and message will be visible for 60 minutes
To find a party or party member:
1. Party 2. Search 3. Leave name blank unless you know the person's name 4. Specify a Purpose or leave as none 5. Specify a class (you have to) 6. Specify a location or leave as none 7. Press begin search
If you Specify a Gladiator with none in both of the purpose and location fields, he will be visible in the search results. I'm not sure if not specifying location or purpose will allow you to see people who have specified a purpose. I also noticed that using the search feature also reveals parties at the same time, making it a little confusing. When i searched for a Gladiator with Purpose: none and Location: none, I got one result which was a party with 4/7 members listed as rank 1-50/ -_-;
So yeah, the system needs a lot of work, a lot of simplification. There needs to be a way for people to designate which class they are seeking for. There are too many steps involved, none of which are immediately obvious and I just think that most people aren't willing to try to understand how something works if it doesn't have giant flashing "press me to seek a party" buttons... |

Thanks for linking this! I've always had a problem trying to find parties and working with the search system. Eventually I just gave up and partied with the few people that I interact with on the game instead e.e; Messing with it seemed like such a pain in the ass, and no matter what I did I couldn't seem to make myself seek or find anyone looking ;x
This helps a bunch, though it needs to be spread more so that more people will seek/make parties using this function.
Also, a side question, if someone is seeking, but not in the area you are in, will they turn up on the search feature? (ie is it like /sea or /sea all?)

sorry I do not know and also I would expect the whole search and seeking options no matter what it's for pt's or just people in certain areas in general to be revamped. They've already talked about it and it's a pretty clunky pos right now and they know it.
I have no link but was told by a buddy of mine that they are also aware of other minor things that I've and others want such as a sound when you are sent a /tell, /pt or /ls and be able to choose if you want to have it chime or not like in ffxi.
Also, want the ability to see other ls members jobs and levels within the linkshell list and where they are. Not to keep tabs but I just like knowing where people are at, what jobs they are lvling, etc. It's still another ffxi comfort option. It's all coming. |
