Another letter from the producer... enjoy (especially the part about 100 new item slots per character ) Quote:
Letter from the Producer, XVIII (09/21/2011) Hello everyone, Yoshi-P here.
First of all, I have to apologize for the briefness of this letter. Things are pretty hectic here, what with work on patch 1.19 well into its final stages, and I ask for your understanding. (I promise to write a nice, beefy letter next time!)
But let’s talk about 1.19. The team has been working like a whirlwind to get things done on time, focusing mainly on bug fixes and balance tweaks. I’ve been getting my hands dirty as well, test-playing all aspects of the patch.
I realize that many of you were expecting the patch to arrive this week, but right now the team is looking at a September 30 release. Certain contents are a bit iffy to make to the deadline, and because of this, there’s a chance that the date will get pushed back a few days. We want to deliver as much content as possible to you, but at the same time want to make sure that everything gets enough QA and balancing time. I’m really sorry we’re cutting it close, and ask for your patience for a while longer.
Now, I know this won’t make up for much, but I’m planning to release the patch notes early this time. Just for good measure, here’s a little preview of what’s coming in 1.19: An additional hundred item slots per character An additional fifty item slots per retainer Details are on the way, so stay tuned!
Ah, I should also mention that FINAL FANTASY XIV will celebrate its first anniversary on September 30. To mark this momentous occasion, I’m planning a Letter from the Producer that’s “livelier” than usual. Will have more to tell soon!
Alright, I better get back to work. Talk to you again soon! Yoshi-P uses Chocobo Dash!

I'm happy we get chocs finally but honestly it's something that should of been in the game long ago and chocs aren't anything new to me since I had 'em for 7+ years in ffxi. I'm happy cause it will make traveling faster and I was upset they weren't available long ago. So Yoshi can take his choc dash tease and shove it lol. Yoshi-P uses Chocobo Dash! .. yeah that's great. fu Yoshi.. get it in the game already. Edited by user Wednesday, September 21, 2011 10:20:38 AM(UTC)

Yeah, I can't imagine it took that many resources to implement chocobos unless they had to do it from the ground up. They had the models from the start, just maybe no coding to handle the rentals and personal ones.
More inventory slots is good. Maybe I can actually carry around all the gear I need to now and still have room to gather. Sooooo hoping for Grade 6 nodes and new items (fish!) |

I hope for grade 6 resource points as well but I am not holding my breath.
Getting Chocobos are definitely way over due and will for my part add greatly to the game. But yes... they should just have been there from the start.
Just remember that getting things you want and maybe expected from the start will bring the game closer to what you expect of it. The game is improving all the time and this patch should get us even closer to the way the game should have been a year ago. New players may now pick up the game without being disappointed and old players may return now that some of the things they wanted to see are in the game. |

my issue is I love how the game is going and all the great updates but eventually "and soon" they will want us to pay to play this game. I do not want to pay for a game that has their main man trying to hype us up for something that should of been in the game a long, long time ago. skip the bs Yoshi and get on with it. He should be apologizing every update to us instead of acting like it's some amazing feat we get a option that's 1 year overdue. Right now I should be trotting around on my bird and looking forward to the next update that gives me something I am NOT expecting. nah but they are coming out with a lot of good stuff in these updates. I'm just playin around mostly givin ole' Yoshi a hard time lol. Edited by user Thursday, September 22, 2011 11:51:21 AM(UTC)

I dunno, there's definitely a possibility that the game might go F2P at some point even though they've refuted this. If the PS3 release bombs, that's more than likely the direction it'll head unless they cancel it altogether. A lot of MMOs have went the F2P model and you just buy expansions, or maybe in the case of this game, you'd have to pay like $3.00 for major content updates or something, and like $20.00 for an expansion.
But yeah I agree with you as far as adding NEW stuff and not stuff that should have been there from the start. But in their defense, they're more or less redoing the whole game less the world terrain so they've got quite a task on their hands. And we are getting some new things implemented this patch such as the materia crafting system, beastmen strongholds, hamlet defense, things like that. Let's just hope this content holds us over until the next major patch, because frankly Diablo 3 is looking to steal me away from this game. :x |
