I have not been fishing with too many different lures yet and don't have much information about it yet but I wanted to know what your experiences are.

I tested out a Floating Minnow. Tiger Cods bite on these and in the end I lost it to what felt like a Tiger Cod. This confirms that you can get line breaks but I don't know if this has something to do with the rod I was using or maybe skill? Do you guys have any experience with this?

I've only had a line break with the Weathered Rod in Grade 3 or higher waters. Grade 1 and 2 I've been able to fish out of no problem. Did the status message actually say or did you see that your lure was gone? You can get the message that "You felt like you lost a ..." but you typically don't lose lures unless the game explicitly tells you so.

You shouldn't really get any line snaps on a tiger cod with a weathered fishing rod regardless of skill since they're pretty low.

I haven't experienced a line break all of OB yet.  But also I've been fishing freshwaters mostly with Chocobo Lures and my Willow Fishing Rod so that may play a factor into it.  Skill may also determine if your line breaks on a fish as well, but I currently have no proof of this.

In Beta phase 3 you did recieve a message saying you lost your lure.  The only way you would know what broke the lines is if you also recieved a "You lost what felt like a such and such" message.

I have experienced line breaks and lost lures for Chocobo Fly, Floating Minnow, and Crow Fly. These have only ever happened to me on Levequest fish though (which in my estimation are typically about 15-20 levels higher).

hmmm I've been in grade 1 -3 waters with various lures/bait and my lowly weathered rod and I've never snapped a line.

Guess it's a matter of time though as I'm venturing farther out testing new areas. good info though ty.
