So, they switched from putting your own points in, to automatically allocating points, which I don't mind for now. But I also noticed, my Attributes are much higher than they were before the update, all of them! Scared Especially my elemental attributes. I'm guessing they changed how attributes work, or the equations behind them as well?

I think there's a direct correlation to the stats vs what they used to be, I'm just not sure of the actual ratio. Example, I had 2200 HP with about 140 VIT and the level 48 iron gear on my gladiator prior to the patch. Now I have about 3500 HP with the same (dated) gear and whatever my VIT stat is at. On the other side of that though, they've made the mob strength match my increase in stats so I'm taking more damage than I would have from them pre-patch.

So I'm not sure what my dex and pie are equivalent to pre-patch for my fisherman, but I don't think it's as radical as truly having 200 more points in those stats, because I don't insta catch every fish at Grade 5 waters or anything. I more or less just focus on my main stats (gathering, perception, output) and let my gear handle the rest.

On my fisher, my dex and pie are not really all that much higher than all my other stats, currently around 110-118, with my lowest stat being around 97 for strength. And my vit is around 113 too. I wonder why they feel like gathering classes need an almost even distribution of stats.

I think this is because I saw a while ago that certain items gained from gathering can only be obtained with a certain amount of stat, like 150 str or something. So most likely when these items are released, we will need different sets of gear depending on which item we are going after. So keeping them fairly balance is just a way to make things a little easier, rather then having 50 in every stat and 200 dex/pie

I guess, but when they allow us to plug in our own stats again, in 1.20, won't we have the re-assign ability again? We could pump up or pie/dex for fishing, and other stats for other jobs, etc. Keep a few of the other stats relatively even, or one to two of them almost as high while allowing the others to be ignored completely.

yeah but from what I thought there will be limitations on how many points we can use. They just want it based on gear stats overall like in ffxi. I think of this new point allotment like merits in 11.

I'm just a little disappointed though. But still happy that I wont have to manually balance out my stats since I keep switching from fish to botany to mining, carpentry, etc, lots of jobs usually = pump stats for your 'main' job and slightly balance the rest to make sure your others don't suck. If we're able to pump stats for jobs individually, all the better.
