I think I'm missing something obvious here.
The items (weapons armour tools etc) that were previously crafted are unable to have materia added to them, and now have "dated" in their name. I thought that the dated recipes were being retired, but they're curently still in game so I could have well got that wrong.
Where do the un"dated" versions come from? There don't seem to be new recipes for a lot of these, and there do seem to be NPCs selling these items?
If the undated versions of all of these items (and it seems like >80% of the previously crafted gear is now dated) are all bought from NPCs, the market for crafted gear has just almost disappeared, particularly the market for NQs (pretty much all a crafter makes when levelling).
Have I missed something? |

I think the idea is to move from dated to non 'dated' gear. Your dated gear can be turned into materia, but you have to put the materia into non dated gear.

here is what a buddy of mine told me.. the "cheap" line was funny lol.
"I have 1/4 to 1/3 and a couple items to 1/2 spirit bond from one night of play. I did nothing but leves last night. You probably have more high end gear than me (I am cheap) hence the reason yours is taking longer.
I can't remember, One thing let's you convert items to materia once it is full. The other opens up materia spots - i think a quest. So I guess this will be the way we don't lose out on selling our "Dated" gear to NPCs. We will convert it to materia. The materia can then be inserted into our new gear.
I'm happy now. Very Happy You will have to read up on all that again. I will eventually. But I think "convertible" means you can convert it to materia and non-meldable" means you can't add materia slots to it. I am really glad they did all of this. This game is really growing up and becoming interesting!" |

It does seem a bit sad if the only use for crafted gear is to turn it into materia, and if you want gear to actually use, then you buy it from a NPC. Doesn't really encourage anyone to craft... |

You can buy the new stuff. Now I don't know what will be considered rare/ex (unique) gear but I've already bought some of the new gear in the Market Wards. I'll never buy anything off npc's unless it's low lvl or mats for crafting.
They won't make us just buy from npc's trust me. That would be a game ender. npc's sell items for very high prices anyway. I watched a guy bust out a new fishing rod and some raptor and woolen gear. |

As an example, I'm levelling on Silver needles (as Goldsmith) at the moment. The recipe I was using now creates dated silver needles, and Silver Needles now come from (as far as I can tell ) a NPC. I dont think there is a silver needle recipe anymore, so If I wanted to upgrade one with materia, then it would have to be one that came originally from an NPC rather than a crafter.
I'm might be missing whats going on, but thats the way it seems atm...

seems you are right because silver needles are not in the 1.19 notes but they are listed on ffxivpro but no recipe which is why I checked the lodestone first.
So that means either there is no silver needle now (non Dated) or you have to buy 'em from a npc like you said.
Interesting.. |

Anyone have a new recipe for any of the items that exist in dated form as well? |

You guys need to look at the info before you assume shit. You CAN still make the silver needle.
It requires a silver ingot and a mud whetstone now. Do your research on lodestone. there is a list of EVEYTHING that changed, went away, and npcs no longer sell on the lodestone. find the list and and all your problems are solved.

If you would have done the research you would have found the "New recipie list" thread on the main page of lodestone. There, now you know where to look.

Here is the new recipe link list he's talking about: http://forum.square-enix...4818?p=359236#post359236Easy man. I actually did do a search for it in the 1.19 notes like I said above and just didn't go to the right page for the new recipes with previous items apparently. It was a simple mistake. Thank you though for bringing this to our attention. Huge update, lots of new items and information and some things will get missed or confused or assumed. Yeah, most of the items did have their materials changed, however there is some equipment that didn't get reworked. The R48 Iron Gladiator gear for example didn't get updated, so I'm waiting for the new Cobalt gear to drop in price so I can convert my Dated gear into materia. |

WHen I posted two days ago, the recipe lists that I found (including the one here) were updated with the dated recipes but didnt have new recipes for the same undated gear. Hence why I ASKED... |
