Hello all, I've been focusing mostly on battle and crafting, but now I'm really enjoying fishing. And as luck would have it, you need spearfishing to get about a 1/3 of the new dyes, so I'm killing two birds with one stone~
The problem I'm having is this: At FSH13 (as of tonight) I can't seem to get dye out of the two spots I found near Drybone. The first one isn't on the maps here; it's in a cave just west-northwest of the southern Drybone Spearfishing spot @ 37,28 that *is* on the map of Thanalan (inside the hollow mountain).
I searched and search for the one marked here as being at 37,23. Or rather, I searched and searched for a cave to take me underground. After about 20 minutes I gave up, only being able to find a logging point near 37,23 and a small pool that you can't spearfish from.
I spent about an hour going between my two Spearfishing spots getting plenty of dart frogs and muddy water (and ala mhigan fighting fish with pipiras when the spearfishing spot wouldn't refill till I fished the school that popped). What I noticed Spearfishing and Harvesting dyes in the Shroud is that in one area, only one gathering spot will produce dyes (per day? per game day?).
Because of that, I'm itching to try to find this mythical Spearfishing spot in Drybone @ 37,23. Can anyone clue me in to the path/tunnel/cave to get there? |

I will add the one that is missing. I know which one you are talking about but it was never added for whatever reason. As far as the 37,23 spearfishing spot.. remember that not all Spearfishing is done in a cave. You spearfish the plants on the ground for this one which is just southwest of that pond. Very close to it. You can see it on the ground. It's the 2 whirling blue spots (only 1 is showing in the ss) just to my immediate left. The green one ahead of me closer to the pond is a harvest node.

Ahh... I never would have expected to spearfish in the brush. >.> The game actually says "You prepare to spearfish the shallow water." Thanks for your help! I managed to get a bunch of black dye for my shoes~ |

I don't know about such low grade spearfishing, but the grade 5 spearfishing gives a pretty decent amount of dye. Grade 5 Haltali gave me 10 total from 6 nodes (3 nodes x 2), and I ran off with 7 from G5 Iron Lake from just 2 nodes. |

I had pretty good luck in Nine Ivies as well with the purple dye. I was running around for the catalyst there and just hit the spearfishing nodes. By the time I had 99 catalysts I had 17 dyes. |
