Hi Guys,
Love the website. brilliant info...but i need some help.
I have been playing around with fishing for a while now, even used a bot for about 10 levels but I am now at lvl 43 (nearly 44) and struggling to even catch R5 fish. I am averaging around 1 fish in 4-5 casts and yet only a short while ago I was fishing the same waters and managing a 3 fish in every 4 casts.
It seems as if I make my cast, get a bite, do first jig and I reduce from 80% or 100% down to 50% remainder , hit second jig and 4 out of 5 times I lose the fish straightn away, 1 out of 5 I will catch immediately. No second or third chances
I have tried messing around with adding 3x +7 dex rings, i have gone all out on gathering stats up to 139 gathering, all out on output stats up to 115 output and had a mixture of the two (around 110 gather and 90 output. I have even added piety from different traits (don't have any dex traits). I am using Horn Rod which is lvl 41 or 42 so i am inside the required level, I have tried using low level baits and lure and high level. I have even gone to R1 waters and still only manage 50% catch ratio with the same results as above.
I will admit that I have not done a single lev or guild quest but i am sure that this cannot be the problem.
Any suggestions?
One last thing. I am only getting 150 max per catch now since update. 44-50 is going to be a long journey at 150exp per fish...or in my case 76exp per lost fish. Any new or favourite spots for fishing now we have 1.19?

I'll let others chime in here but the last few levels to 50 can be a long one however it can be much faster doing leves. Also, get Sweat of Brow, lvl 25 Botany ability. When it activates which is not all the time it doubles the xp gained. Sometimes it happens alot, sometimes not. Random. Any of the Grade 5 areas where you do leves are places you can grind. You can search on here for G5 areas. I'm not sure why you are having problems otherwise. Botting doesn't help either with gaining experience but you only did it for 10 lvls. I can use moth pupa or lugworms at G5 areas whether leves or grind and have no issues. I used Vulture fly's for my last 4 lvls at Iron Lake or Halatali east of Ul'dah for leves and grind. I didn't even have any dex or pie rings. Check out this thread. http://www.disciplesofth...g=posts&t=85&p=1I am not finished updating Kida's guide but it might help. I don't know. I read your post again.. sounds like you are jigging wrong. I don't know what others do but for example in the image below.. only pay attention to the red dots.. I stay in between those 2 red dots. I may start at the middle, just left of the middle or just right of the middle. I hit the mark most of the time or if it tells me the fish is taking line I go other way obviously but I have not had to go far far right or far far left in a long time. This method works flawlessly for me. I also hit Wait again if I get a nibble until it says Bite.

I am having the exact same problems. I am R38 and fishing Nine Ivies with the best gears I can find for my rank and Vulture flies for bait. I either hit something right off or lose the like 80% remainder straight off; no second chances. I can catch Velodyna Carp, Northern Pike pretty religiously and can catch Crayfish, Bone Crayfish, Pipira and Monke Onkes since I do get a second shot at them. I'm losing flies very quickly tho and those are really expensive, especially when noone is buying stuff in preparation for 2.0. I was hoping to get 50 Fisher before shutdown but I'm losing faith in my ability to do so.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I remember having an easier time at R36 with Rat Tails, maybe I should go back to those? My primary goal is xp but if I can get some fish to sell too, I won't complain much ;)

What are your stats? Gathering, DEX, and your bait will affect your success rates the most. If you know Rat Tails make things easier, then use Rat Tails. **Important note: I am not a fisher. Edited by user Friday, September 21, 2012 11:42:56 AM(UTC)

how many are you fishing/day? There is still a fatigue system in place for DoL, but it just takes quite a few hours of straight gathering to hit it, so this may be your problem ^^ try taking a couple of days off from gathering and then coming back. |
