ok .. im having an issue with quarrying...
Do quarrying modes disappear after you use them? I know that some of them say "bla bla there is nothing to gather here" but the shining nodes still is there..

I cant find hardly any quarrying locations ..so I went to DOl maps and logs and.

im going to the exact locations that the quarrying nodes are supposed to be according to DOL maps and logs.. and there is nothing there for like 70% of the "supposed" nodes. I realize like in emerald moss the nodes move a few feet but in areas like thanalan and skull valley.. the nodes dont even exist.. whats the deal? any advice..

thanks

Quarrying points tend to be undergound in a lot of areas. 2D map coordinates are sometimes insufficient in showing this. You may want to look around for a nearby cave entrance and see if you can find it down there.

yes i sort of figured that.. was just curious if anyone out there is a quarrier and can give me info on how to reach the quarry spots in than or LL.. sometimes the cave entrances are completely hidden and other times the cave entrances are like a mile away and in a completely different location then what you would think.. soooo if anyone out there has good info ie.. go to the corner of <pos, pos> and that is where you can enter the cave for quarrying loc of <pos, Pos>, feel free to take a second and show us quarriers some love!!!

Many times you will find this information when clicking the node on the maps. We have tried to supply this information in the notes (Something like "Entrance to cave found at 32, 17").

It mightn't be a bad idea for us to give reviews of gathering areas (ie a summary of points, items, depths, hazzards etc) So that new gatherers to an area have an idea what they're in for. Of course learning that can be a lot of the fun!

Quarrying in Thanalan:
Level 4 points : Nophica's Wells

There are three points, a northeast, a northwest and a south.

The northeast is inside a two segment mountain, the entrance of which is on the far northeast of the mountain. Its on the ground floor, by a lake (ie dont go up the ramp)

The northwest is inside the centre section of the three segment mountain on the west side of the map. It's on the ground floor too, and the mountain entrance is on the south east corner of the mountain.

Havent been to the south point, but it seems to be in a cave, the entrance to which is on the south edge of the map, a little bit east of where the point appears on our mining maps.

Level 5 points: Halitali
Two points are inside the three segment mountains just west of the point where you teleport into the area. (again ground floor). The third one is (I think from memory!) just on the side of a little mountain just north of there, out in the open.

I'm not sure that all of the quarrying points are always up. I used to run past the T4 points a lot doing mining leves, the general "mine three points" leves are inside those mountains. I'd stop and quarry if the point was at the NE or NW point, but it more often was at neither. I'd guess that only one of the points in the area is active at any time, although there is a quarry point just west of Humblehearth (the far west point, in the creek) that seems to be up everytime I do a leve there. Never seen the other two points at Humblehearth though so maybe it's just been sitting in the creek when I've been there (or the other 2 points could be underground).

I'm all for helping someone out like Jay above if they ask a specific question here. It's like asking members in a linkshell. Just another means to get a answer/help. If they look it up and find the answer great too and at the same time I believe in the whole adventure thing and finding out for yourself. So I wouldn't be in favor of doing reviews for complete areas but that's just me.

As far as the caves Jay I have noticed that as well. You can't mark the exact spots on here usually so they are sometimes hidden entrances off the grid. Like Kida said that is why we encourage people who report nodes to give info on the exact entrance map location so we can add that in the notes for ya'll to see.

If you find one that needs a notation let us know and we'll add it.
