Hello all well i really love this place and i use it quite often and even manage to cooparate with adding some "logging" points for botanist :) and all , and i like how this is getting afloat and all BUT is there a way to CHANGEs the "ADS/Commercia" w/e you wana call them... i mean its "Gil Sellers" i know its from FFXI but still that doesnt seem right but just giving my humble opinion what do you guys think.

There must be other ways to get money to support the site other than those "gil sellers ads" maybe adding a "donate" button from paypal or something even "another" game ads -_- .

Thanks for reading this small rant.

I've never seen any ads because with Firefox I have adblock plus, noscript, etc. But I'm sure Kida who runs the site can answer your question.

From my understanding, ads are automatically generated by google based on the text on the page. Due to all the 'Final Fantasy' on here, you'll inevitably have some gil selling ads, just like ffxiah.com does.

Ah, I found the post on FFXIAH that explains the situation in great detail:

Yes that pretty much sums it up. The ads on this site is sponsored by Google Adsense and I don't really have any influence on what is displayed as Google makes an index of the site and the keywords here and then based on that chooses what ads to display.

They also use Geo Targeting which means that if you are in the US you will see other ads than if you are in Europe. Personally I never see RMT ads but I know they are displayed now and again. I am sorry but I can't really do too much about it.

I may consider using other ads in the future but this requires a lot of work as I will have to find the sponsors myself and negotiate contracts. I have also considered doing some ads for Amazon to relevant products like FFXIII-2 coming up soon but this also requires a lot of work.

Lastly I would like to add that I use the ads to pay for the site. I need to pay for servers and when this is done there is not much left. For the first year the site cost me both money and development time to run. Just recently has the site started to generate enough to pay for the servers but there is hardly anything left for me for the work that has been put into the site.

I am not doing this to make money (else I would choose another way) but because I like to work on the site and of course enjoy to play FFXIV.

Easy way to avoid ads once again is firefox and adblock plus or another browser that does the same thing. I never see any ads. Never. The site does great now and will do great in the years to come. Kida since ffxi has done immeasurable work for us players and if he needs some ads to pay the bills then by all means have at it.

Compared to ffxi rmt are pretty much laughable. Gil is so easy to make if anyone seriously goes out and buys gil... well you just need to quit. Obviously Kida is not associated with RMT.... so again:

adblock plus. It is the ad blocker of the gods.
