So the patch notes for 1.20 is here. It looks very interesting but it's a long post so don't want to add it all here.

Check this link for all the information

Anyone notice this little gem?

[dev1282] Gathering points are now marked on the minimap.

Lots of goodies for us gatherers in this patch:

As we know, the classes are changing around and will auto-learn abilities at specific levels. Here is the link to those abilities.

[dev1274] Certain combinations of bait/lure and fish will guarantee you a bite, and with shorter waiting time.
[dev1273] The rate of success when gathering with secondary tools has been increased.
* The rate at which spiritbond develops through combat and gathering has also been increased.
* There are level 50 tools being introduced for DoH/DoL (probably from achievements)

This one, not so great, but I guess they wanted to make the higher level ore and the catalysts (this one makes sense) slower to come by. Would have just preferred they upped mythril yields to 3. :P

[dev1273] A single gathering attempt will now yield no more than one of the following items, as opposed to the previous maximum of three.
Cobalt Ore / Electrum Ore / Carbonized Matter / Petrified Matter / Fossilized Matter / Crystallized Matter / Germinated Matter / Decayed Matter / Decomposed Matter / Liquefied Matter / Calcified Matter / Cultured Matter / Ossified Matter / Cretified Matter

I am loving a lot of the changes. Especially the achievements look interesting.

While I think marking the gathering points on the map is a great idea I wonder what the use for abilities like Gull eye and dowse may have now. There don't seem to be much point to them unless the gathering nodes doesn't show until the ability has "found" them.

Since none of the items being gathered at any of the nodes are worth anything really and gil is so easy to make in this game compared to FFXI.. I see no harm in placing the nodes on the minimap. Might as well since it doesn't really matter.

I assume the abilities will be useful still for finding nodes outside of the minimaps range.

The lvl50 items seem ok I guess but I would rather have a endgame rod, pick or axe to work towards than this or some sort of guild gear like we had in FFXI. That's the only issue I have anymore with this game.. I have no goals to work towards except capping at 50 for now.

But we'll see how these are obtained and what the stats are. Who knows maybe they'll be tough to obtain. Something needs to be tough in this game lol. It's a cakewalk but I love it.

But I guess they won't release a endgame tool until they raise the lvl cap and put in much tougher fish to catch and items needed to meet that goal... which I assume they are going to do.

I don't really understand the need for this: "Certain combinations of bait/lure and fish will guarantee you a bite, and with shorter waiting time."

Fishing is already super easy and fast but eh.. oh well.

Quote:
• Gathering
Meritorious deeds related to gathering.

Example:

Mine 20 times at grade 1 mineral deposits in La Noscea.
Mine 300 times at grade 2 mineral deposits in Thanalan.

Quote:
Obtain the "A Miner's Life for Me" achievements for La Noscea, the Black Shroud, and Thanalan: Pick of the Luminary

Assuming that's all there is to the gathering achievements, they won't be hard to get, just tedious if you're already 50.

I'm thinking the tools are going to be tedious in terms of the Lu Shang rod quest in FF11. I imagine it's going to take over 5000 gathers to complete the achievement sets.

On a side note, tons of people were out in Iron Lake last night gathering cobalt. The price has already spiked to like 4-5k per ore on my server. I guess people are panic buying for whatever reason. My miner is 44 at the moment so I just figure I'll grind it as long as I can until the patch and I should be sitting on a healthy amount of ore to use or sell for after the patch.

Patch is currently loading.

Regarding the mini map: it will only show harvest, quarry and spearfish nodes.

Mining, logging and fishing nodes will NOT be displayed.

That's ok, the secondary nodes are typically the harder ones to find anyway. The class skills should point you to the primary gathering nodes.

By the way, food effects are showing! Check your stats, eat something, and check again.

Also, if you keep an eye on your stats just before the food effect wears off you will see the stats jump.
