Hi All
Just wanted to brag as i finally hit level 50 fishing. I know a lot of you probably hit 50 a long time ago but I have not been able to put a lot of time into the game and getting to top level is really a big thing for me.
But as I hit 50 I sat back and was kind of dissapointed. I knew nothing would happen but it is a bit of a downer that you dont really get anything. I know that I am now able to add an extra ability but they really should have done something more for the people who actually go all the way. There are no new abilities since level 36!! That's 14 levels without any thing new happening. Sigh.
Oh well. I am going to continue the quest for the luminary rod. I am almost one third of the way now but it really takes a long time. How are you guys faring on this one. Are any one else other than mé trying to get it at all? Did any one get it already? Let me hear your stories.
Now back to the game. I also want to get the other DoL classes to 50 (and hopefully in 2012 LOL) |

I'm only 43 for now. I never did any levequests tho. By the time I get my hands on the new Lu I'll be long 50 anyway :)
Besides using fish for alchemy/cooking and selling for what feels like absurd amounts compared to ffxi, it would be nice if there was more :p |

Congratulations! My highest DoL job is still at 48 because, like you said, there's nothing to strive for beyond a certain point (that point was 48 for me, because that's the highest level gear set for DoL). Personally, I'm only ~25% of the way to my BTN luminary (all grades 1~3 complete), but that's because I've been spending my time trying to get the CRP luminary (50% complete). I'm still dedicated to getting them both though, and both BTN and CRP will make it to 50 long before I'm finished with their respective luminaries. I don't really do anything in-game besides work toward luminaries right now, so hopefully it doesn't take too awfully long to get them. I plan to have the CRP luminary by the end of this month, but I haven't really looked into how long the BTN luminary will take me. Thankfully, I managed to join a DoH/DoL linkshell on Selbina, so the grind is slightly more bearable. After this server juggling business, maybe more of us will be on the same server! I'm also trying to complete the offhand achievements in tandem with working on my BTN luminary, but I understand that's a lot harder with FSH (I'm looking at YOU Iron Lake). I hope we're all filthy rich when we've reached our goals! Edited by user Thursday, February 09, 2012 2:26:21 PM(UTC)

Thanks for the replies.
The good thing about getting the luminary rod is that you will get enough fish for getting both cul and alc luminary tools. So I save all the fish for later and then I am going to get busy with crafting all these fish into sand and crystals (or maybe find some more interesting recipes including fish). So I am not selling all the fish. Only enough to get some better gear now and then. |

Congrats Kida! I haven't been playing much as you probably know due to my lack of presence on the forums. I've done the same as you and hoarded my fish to use for some leveling and doing some of the crafting achievements. Once I get past a tier I then sell them.
I agree with you that there isn't much to strive for once you hit max level as a fisherman. (or any gatherer really) Hopefully they add in more content later on for gatherers. I know Yoshi-P hinted at gatherers having an important part in the hamlet defense that's due to come in 1.22, so I'm waiting to hear more about that. But otherwise, I want to see more things like the challenging Ebisu Rod quest, fish gutting, things like that. There will probably be more demand for fish after 1.21 after the cooking recipe changes. (assuming it doesn't get pushed back for the THIRD time...) |
