So...i just want to make sure I'm not seeing things...I reached level 50 in all crafting in August of 2011. All those synthesis are not going to count towards achievements? >.<

Nope. You have to start all over. I believe that some of them will still be there like mobs killed but I am not sure. The dol achievements had to ne done from scratch making a lot of leveling “wasted“. Of course you will get all the achievements for the levels you reached.

Yes and no... I really thinks it sux that you have to do it all over again. People have spent a lot of time leveling their classes and really done a lot of the things that it is now required to do again if you want to get the achievements.

On the other hand SE clearly did not have the data, otherwise they would have let people have their achievements. As they don't have the data this was the only way to get the achievements implemented.

I would rather have the option to do the achievements from scratch than not having them at all. As this was the only way to do it I think SE did the right thing.

As it often is the hard core and loyal crowd got hit by this but a lot of players now have some very clear defined goals that they can try to obtain. And we all know the hard core and loyal crowd will get them any way ;)

Also being level 50 will make it much easier to get the achievements done as you can Fast Hand a LOT of the low level recipes. Also you would not have done all the recipes any way to get the Luminary tools as this takes much more than leveling to 50.

Sorry for the rant... but I really like the achievements system but then again I hadn't progressed very much in the game by the time it was implemented so I did not loose nearly as much as the players with all classes at 50 and I really understand the frustration of having to start all over.

No don't get me wrong, I love Achievements and was sad that they wern't in the game jusr right off the bat. To me, nothing keeps me interested or motivated like trying to reach achievements.

The Character ones (for levels) seems to of course recognize your level. Instantly was awarded the "Builder of the Realm" title...although not sure how to have titles dispaly >.>

The DoL ones of course didn't recognize any of it, nor did the crafting ones...so yeah Guess I'll have to do it all over again. At least this time I should be able to sell some things out of it.

I did unlock the Quests one as well and it of course recognized the story progression. I still need to go talk to the Battles, items, Seasonal, Dungeons, Exploration, Materia, Currencies, and grand companies ones to get them starting. I forsee a bit of warping around in my near future.

Thanks for the confirmation though, good to know that I just didn't do it wrong or something :p

Minor clarification:
Anything you do in-game now will count toward the achievements, whether you've spoken to the NPC to "unlock" the achievement category or not. The only things that weren't taken into account were certain things (such as crafting/gathering counts) that occurred before the achievements were ever implemented.

Example:
If you make a new character, go harvest 50 times then talk to the NPC to unlock the achievement category for gathering, it will appropriately say that you have harvested 50 times.

That's actually one of the things I never understood. Why do we need to unlock them? I believe it makes sense to have an NPC who you have to contact in order to get titles and rewards but why aren't they just unlocked from the start. After all they have started counting the second they made the patch where achievements were included.

And by the way... you set your title by going into the menu -> Attributes -> General Attributes -> Titles. Here you will find a list of all the titles you have earned and can then select the one you like others to see :D

You've always been able to use the titles, but they currently only show up below/above your name (depending on the title) when someone examines you.

Yeah the "Builder of the Realm" title is cool...just wish it came with a moogle scepter I could wave and then grant me the crafting quantity achievements...honestly how could you get "Builder of the Realm" and _not_ qualify for those achievements :p

I have several titles and can't select "Titles" where you said it was Kida. I see it but not selectable even on Fisher.

That generally happens when you have no titles to select.

In order to actually obtain the titles for use, you must re-visit the NPC who unlocked the achievement category and speak with them. Titles are not granted automatically.
