Will we be seeing any familiar fish in FFXIV? The moat carp is a classic and the most caught fish in FFXI but will it be in the new game as well?
I think they will give more or less all the fish new names but I think it would be great if there where some that kept their old names (like the moat carp). I have caught more than 10,000 moat carps for the Lu Shang's and I wouldn't mind catching a few more

I am pretty sure that most of the fish will have new names and frankly I am sick of the moat carp... I never want to catch one of those ever again LOL...
No please let me have some new fish to catch. The game should feel new and not just like a revamp.

So far people reported to have caught:
Coral Butterfly Tiger Cod Vongola Clam Silver Shark Cave Cherax Crayfish
So there are familiar FFXI fish to be caught. Wonder if moat carp will be one of them and if there will be another catch 10,000 fish for a super item quest.

You are right. Of the 37 items in the database that can be fished a lot of the names look very familiar. Not only are some of them the same but many sound similar. There are Goby's, Cods, Carps and so on. I bet we will see a lot more that we know from FFXI.
I do hope that there are some new legendaries though :D
As for a new Lu Shang's quest... I don't know how to feel LOL. I would love to do something similar once again but at the same time I am not quite sure. I spent hours and hours doing that quest. I once calculated how much that rod cost me if the time spent was used on some paid job. I can't remember how much it turned out to be but it was a lot of money I could have made IRL... |

SE does have to come up with another quest but i would like to obtain Lu-Shang again in FFXIV. Does anybody actually broke a rod in FFXIV? Only thing i heard so far are stories about snapped lines.

Bought a minnow from my last money in the closed beta, lost it within a minute on a Blue.. something. Have to be more careful now that everything is a lot more expensive
