Hey Guys,
So finally got my Fisher to 50 :) Having played FFXI for years and never having the motivation to get any crafting class or fisher to 100 im actually kind of chuffed to get it to 50. Getting to 40 was a lot easier than i thought but by god 40-50 is awful. Got to around 44 then used Ifrit to get to 46 then took nearly a months break and let the rested EXP build up and finally knocked it out.
Anyways now that im 50 i want to gear as i would any other 50 job with good gear and rod etc. Dont think ill do the luminary quest but maybe over time. So for now i just wanted some input on the best gear / approach and what you guys actually use your 50 Fisher for. Having it is great for Hamlet right now but is it purley for money? Looking at most the end game food none of it is really fish so dont see how much money can be made there? Iv used it so far to get ALC & CUL to 35 so maybe its just good for selling crystals? Or do you just sell the fish outright?
What stats should i focus on? Now im 50 i dont think i should be focusing alot in Gathering? is this right? I would think more output then perception? Trying for a HQ Gilded Rosewood atm but if people could suggest what they feel is the best gear and specific melds to go for that would be great? Appreciate the pointers and help!

I replied to your other thread so some of that pertains here but I'll let someone else answer .. I'm a little pessimistic right now when it comes to DoL jobs as far as how easy they are. 40-50 was just time consuming but I busted it out on leves and with the bonuses now, resting, etc it shouldn't take too long for most. Never had any hq DoL gear. I think I would take more pride in a HQ rod if it was really awesome, made a huge difference and tough to craft.
The lum rod is more of an accomplishment thing to me. It's like the lesser stepchild of the Lushangs but again it doesn't really make any difference as all fish are easy to catch right now... and I ended up replying more than I wanted lol. |

yeah it seems DoL got super easy and much shorter to reach...but still congratz for getting it up to 50! I recall being one of 3 people back on Melmond (*sniff* still miss the home world) to reach 50 in it back in December of 2010...I look back though and cant complain, it was a good (long boring) time and fish sold like hotcackes!
As for gear, I haven't changed mine since that time either, but I'm sure there is better gear out there. Basically I focus on Output (more times at a location and shorter wait times) followed by Gathering (reduces depletion of the bar) then Perception (belive it only concerns getting HQ items unless that is what you are fishing for)
