So I got a tweet yesterday about the new teaser site and was very excited. I went to have a look and... this is just old stuff?!?!
Am I missing something but haven't we already seen all these screenshots and concept art a thousand times on various occasions?
I think I have seen all the pictures on that (rather small) site but I feel like there must be some hidden section I haven't found. Is this really it? Some ~30 pictures from way back when they first announced 2.0?
I really think this was a disappointment. |

Hi Kida,
There is nothing new yet. Yoshi said that they will be releasing new information in a torrent closer to release. July will not get much new information. Just hold on another 4 weeks or so! August is probably going to be THE month!
Also, the true site for v2.0 will most likely be "www.arealmreborn.com".
Beginning August new patches to FFXIV will be released to start wrapping up the Empire storyline (and also remove the ability to acquire the Goobbue mount). The current version will most likely run until the end of September, when the v2.0 Beta kicks in. The Beta and the current game will not be running side by side because they are using the time to transfer the characters, so there will be about a month without any FFXIV access (except to the lucky Beta testers).
Beginning of September a closed Alpha will become available to a selected few. The Alpha will run side by side with the current version for about a month.
The Beta is scheduled for beginning of October and will expand to more players, including brand new players to FFXIV in order to get their input.
Keep in mind that current levelling in FFXIV is at an accelerated pace to appease existing players, but will be reset to a slower pace once v2.0 starts, so get your levelling in!

Hi Eldr Thanks for all the info. I know that there will come more information at a later time I just find it disappointing that they release a site with no knew information. I would certainly have waited until I had something new to show the people who are eagerly awaiting some insight into the new game. I would happily have waited for real information but when I saw that a new site was up I was really psyched only to be let down. Oh well... I guess all good things come to those who wait. Got carpenter from level 34 to 41 yesterday :D I am not playing all that much but when I am I am really effective. I really hope to get most of my crafting above 40 before they close down the servers. Also I really hope that I will be able to get in the alpha or at least the beta... I will have to write them and tell them I have a site to maintain LOL |

I've heard several people say that "we'll get the flood of 2.0 news in August", but I don't know where they're getting that from.
Having a 2.0 teaser site may be silly at this point since it's all old news, but it's better than what was there before (old XIV info). |

Andriasang InterviewQuote:Version 2.0's roadmap is currently running on schedule. They plan on beginning full promotions around August and starting an alpha test in late September. IGN InterviewQuote:So what’s the timeline on all this? First, in August, Square Enix will ramp up more detailed reveals about what’s to come in Final Fantasy XIV. Massively InterviewQuote:Fans will have to wait a few more months for more hard data on what the revamp will include, but the promotions for the game should start in earnest in August.

Ah, that would require me to do more than skim interviews. A shame. They should really link interviews officially on the main site. Edited by user Friday, July 06, 2012 2:47:15 PM(UTC)

I suspect the updates to the site were not necessarily for those of us already closely following the game. I think it was just to freshen up the site for the general public.
But come August, there better be a flood of info that is new and exciting even to those of us who check the official forums every day. |
