So the first week of Final Fantasy XIV is coming to an end in a few days. How has your experience been?

I love the game but I still want to see some improvements and changes and if they don't implement a AH.. I'm gonna lose my mind to have to keep searching bazaars. Takes forever and the UI is still slow to me and too many menus for certain actions. Also, I run out of anima way too fast especially all the jumping around I do from place to place fishing and it doesn't replenish fast enough. Like 1 every 3/4 hours right?  That's absurd.  I death port some and run but returning takes you back to the last camp and crystal and that blows sometimes. lol.

I see people shouting 3k for a tele to a city but who is gonna provide that service regularly like whm's in ffxi when they run out of anima just as well? Need our chickens soon to ride and air travel. It's pretty much like being tossed back into the dark ages of Zilart lol.

But it's growing on me steadily. I'm just not a huge fan of the downtimes for leve's either.

Fishing is great though for me. Just would like a new rod but I cant' seem to find recipes for them or anyone selling them on Wutai and I'm about to be lvl 10 now and been doing other grades.

I really don't have the great need for porting... maybe I stay too much in the same area LOL but I find that I get around easily. Compared to FFXI I get around very fast. Also the extra speed from the abilities work great and lets you get around a bit faster... I spam that when ever I have the chance.

But I have not been playing all that much so maybe in time I will get annoyed by it as well. I have heard rumours that they will increase the anima though so maybe we will get it soon. I agree that one short port per day is not enough.

yeah I'm a traveler, adventurer man.. well till I get swatted for 4500 dmg by a giant Salamander or king crab. That's one reason why I like fishing in these games so I can get out and go to the places most wouldn't visit and do some fishing!  I was in caves and hidden beaches yesterday and all sorts of places off the beaten path and never saw a soul and caught some fish, coral, crab.. white coral sells decently to npcs.

Haven't tried to bazaar anything yet.

I agree about the bazaar/retainer thing.  Definitely need some sort of AH or maybe a search function or something.  I have a retainer sitting in the Limsa Market area, by his lonesome self....there has to be some way to organize community wise instead of shoving them all in one crowded room.  He sells fish...so naturally I stuck him in the "Upper Sea Dog" room...doubt anyone will see him in there though.

Overall, I enjoy it.  Love the fishing, love running around and exploring places to fish.  I'm getting a feel for what people want for sure.  Sea cucumbers, dark bass, indigo herring.  Apparently I've been selling sea cucumbers too cheap.

The game is beautiful, the graphics lovely, the UI a bit laggy but I can deal with it, I've learned to use my mouse more when going through the menu, it seems faster then arrow keys on a keyboard.

I'm pretty sure I saw your npc selling those fish lol. I was going through each area the last two days. Even using a controller is laggy but more so cumbersome with all the menus you have to navigate through to craft or whatever. Sea Cucumbers! I npc'd mine.. whoops!.

Sea cucumbers wont sell to anyone who fishes, but to those that dont, can sell for decent amount. Dark Bass and Indigo Herring on the other hand sell really well as they can be hard to find and need for fish glue which is used in a lot of crafts. 3 bass 1 cucumber or 5 herring 1 pickle for glue.

my sea cucumbers have been selling super fast even in the mass traffic jam we call the Market Ward.

Yea I retract that, I guess a common grade 2 fish is even too much for most people lol

I think at this point I'm having fun mostly because I hooked up with a lot of friends from FFXI.  We went out with like 14 people last night and did our first faction leve as a LS.  So much fun.  :)

Unfortunately, most of us are of the mind that if some issues don't get fixed within a few months that we will probably suspend play until they do.  I personally can't justify for paying for a game that is still IMO beta quality.  I didn't want to fork over the money I did for CE, but I was talked into staying.

I think I can deal with the market wards as long as they implement some type of search function with the categorization of them. An auction house would still be better, but we take what we can get. :) I'm wondering how the search thing will work, if it will have a pinpoint feature like when you're hunting down mobs for leves, or if it will just give you the retainer name and ward section. *Anything* is better than the way the wards are currently. :o

The main thing I'm missing, I think, is a mail system. It's so tedious meeting up across continents to give friends crafting supplies for their professions. I can't bring myself to bazaar/vendor/toss them when I know people need them. Even if it's just 8 slots combined like in FFXI, that would be a huge improvement.

Everything else I'm dealing with as it's annoying (but minor) bugs, like mobs warping to spawn points and regening some health while you're fighting them. I have confidence those types of things will be fixed soon in future updates so they don't worry me too much at the moment.

Overall I have to say I'm having an awesome time in FFXIV, especially with the crafting and gathering system. Figuring stuff out in a new game is fun. ^.^

P.S. Vicious: anima regens 1 point every 4 hours, so you're right it's pretty slow. It's a nice counterbalance to anyone being able to port anywhere, though. :) I'm also waiting for chocobos and air passes, so we can hopefully explore way beyond the current three zone maps.
