What would be neat, and I know you like this type of thing Kida, is a webpage where you enter your DoL & Rank, and it spits out good DoL gear for say +/- 5 or 10 ranks. ^^ I have lots of ideas, just not the web page creating skills to make them. lol

I just saw this post... I realize it has been a while since you wrote it but it is a great idea... I will add it to my list of suggestions and things to do Woot

Need to add that Rank on gear is very important. I see too many players wearing gear that is way over their current rank. They are under the impression that because they can equip any gear in this game that they can get away with "gud stats". Nothing could be further from the truth. There's so many bad sides to over ranked gear, like constant and expensive repairs, that it's not worth it.

Equiping higher level gear isnt that bad. Ive noticed that about 5 levels or so prior to the optimal rank the higher level gear will give you better stats than the stuff youre currently wearing. For instance around rank 23 I replaced my sheep leather jerkin/ cullotes with dodoskin, and now im close to lvl 30 and wearing leather jerkin and culottes. The minute the high level stuff gives me better stats than the lower I switch it out. Also keep in mind that SE just released the list of things affected by item deterioration and gathering, output, and perception werent on there. Also Items that give you a stat bonus dont seem that affected by you not being the optimal rank. I bought 3 rings and a bracelet and even though im several levels lower than optimal I still recieve like +15 dex. . which is a nice upgrade when trying to fish a higher grade.

With the latest updates is there anything new gear/rod/bait wise that should be added to this? I need to take a look but idk if you have noticed any changes Kida.

by the way.. Gamerescape's fisher section is just horrible. lol. So much stuff missing and so much stuff not needed but I guess it just pulls items from a DB for the job. They don't even have all the rods listed or the fishing hat >.>

I have a list of all the new items of the update here:

https://spreadsheets.goo...RFUlE&hl=en_US#gid=0

There are no DoL tools on the list but there should be some items that would be great for DoL. I have not found all the stats of the items yet but I think there should be an item with +20 gathering.

There is no new bait or similar either.

any updates? Fishing Hat, Tarred Leather Culottes, Fingerless Toadskin Gloves, and Tarred Voyager's belt all seem to be "dated" now...

Angler's Hat (Blue)
Raptorskin Jerkin (Blue)
Fingerless Raptorskin Gloves (Blue)
Raptorskin Survival Belt
Ratporskin Culottes (Purple) <--- These do match the blue set despite having purple accents.
Raptorskin Workboots (Blue)

Rosewood Fishing Rod
Gilded Rosewood Fishing Rod

So does this still pertain or has there been any major changes in the latest notes:

"DEX affects your ability to reel in fish, it works in the equation that handles how the remainder depletes.

PIE affects your yield and seems to affect bite rate as well."

I am pretty much going the way Chev posted above as well especially if the above is still the case.

There are some lvl 43 pieces of gear for those who don't wanna wait to lvl up like Boarskin culottes.

There is the woolen gear like the doublet optimal lvl 47 that might be cheaper.

There was actually a post in Reinheart's translation thread today regarding stats:

Quote:
For gatherer status effects it will be as following.
STR - Botanist - makes it easier to decided the angle for individual item during approach phase.
VIT - Mining - Makes it easier to decide the strength required during the approach phase.
DEX - Fishing - Makes it easier to decide the rod movement during the approach phase.
INT - Botanist - Increases items yield
MND - Mining - Increases items yield
PIE - Fishing - Increases items yield
Gathering - When using main tool the the amount Remainder lowers will lessen, and for secondary tools it will increase the rate for obtaining.
Output - increases amount of times you can gather, or for fishing, makes it easier to get hit.
Perception - Makes it easier to obtain high quality items.

I am updating the items/gear @ Kida's first post in this thread. If something vital is missing or incorrect pls let me or Kida know. Since the latest updates there are a lot more items to select from. This means if the best item is not available or too expensive they will have plenty of options.

So far I have the baits/lures, rods/gigs, Head, waist gear updated.

Here's a pic of the gear you mentioned except I need to get the blue gloves and blue angler's hat. The gloves you mentioned Oro aren't even on the Market Ward list so I might get the felt work gloves blue version.

I have both sets of gloves, but yeah, I'm predominately using the Felt Work Gloves (Blue). I'm slowly leaning towards more output, and I will probably get a set of perception gear after 1.20 since HQ fish will probably be in demand for cooking.

I'll finish up the rest tomorrow. I am going to be moving soon into a better neighborhood and house.. thank god. I have nightmare neighbors who's butts I wanna kick but that's another story lol but I have to get off the pc for awhile to go look at the new pad. On the golf course.. oh yeah baby!!

Yay after college living issues!

Added Materia for Fisher primary and secondary and Fisher status effects. What is in blue is updated.

updating guide this week finally to reflect 1.20.

added new rings, achievement rod.

need to update name changes to certain items still.

Added a few other items. Still need to make some name changes but they are the same items. SE just changed the names and Kida has the links going to the right item.

Thanks for these lists. Found them invaluable leveling up to 50 FSH. I have a question though on the priority of the gear and the stats at 50. If we look at the list the last body piece mentioned has Gathering stats but surely at 50 i should be focusing more on Output & Perception because I wont be having much trouble with the guage.

If thats the case should the body piece that is before the last on the list be more useful?

Essentially im trying to build a gearset for my 50 FSH that will do until the level cap increases. Any tips please? Even better if someone has a good set with materia that they use and reccomend please let me know and i will just build that one.

Cheers!

Honestly fishing is so easy that most people I observed never upgraded their gear. I enjoy putting on new gear in games like this so I did but this guide needs to be updated because some names have changed and a few new items are out like the hamlet gear and some jewelry.

I haven't even put any materia on my gear. If and when they make fishing tougher where stats really make a difference then I will until then I have no issues catching whatever I need. I just put in plenty of options in these guides so you do not have to wear a specific thing at your level.

Once the cap is lifted then yeah some stats should take priority. Plus you have to figure that new gear will be released for higher levels and who knows what stats will be on that. Probably putting some IV materia on your current gear wouldn't be a bad idea until then but if it's like the first 50 levels I don't see how it will be needed.
