THIS GUIDE WILL CHANGE ACCORDINGLY ONCE 2.0 IS RELEASED.

This is a list of all the equipment that will be suitable for people who like to go fishing and Fisher Materia... A lot of the items will also be great equipment for the two other DoL's. Number in front of item is optimal or required rank.

These items are suggested options (You do not always have to upgrade, pls compare stats/lvls before purchasing) that revolve around Fisher's stats including: Dex, Pie, Perception, Gathering, Output and Scanning with possible stats that carry over to Botany and Mining.

You have plenty of options below if the optimized item is not in stock. FF14 is all about diversity including gear so this is not an optimized guide so don't ask why so many options.

List will be updated to reflect latest gear name changes
Blue = updated and clickable links
(U/U) = Unique / Untradeable

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fisher status effects:
(Ty Orophin)
DEX - Makes it easier to decide the rod movement during the approach phase.
I am a few levels away from being able to try an ash and a willow rod.
The Willow was offered to me at one point for the rank 10 leve: Fishing Dry Bone.
Contrary to what some have reported when I first tried this quest last week it did indeed on my screen say Willow was a reward. However, the treasure chest that showed at the first fishing point did not yield the rod nor did I get it as a reward.
Subsequent tries at this leve did not offer the Willow.
The thinking for the Willow synth so far is but NOT verified so just theory:
Willow branch
Willow lumber
Iron reel
Iron gorge hook
Linen bowstring
Iron wire or Silver wire or Steel wire
when I am able to start making the Ash, Bamboo and maybe Willow I will be more than happy to help members in Kida's linkshell out. I have seen the rod selling for as high as 300k which is absurd.
I'd much rather get my hands on a Bamboo Rod. More willows are starting to come out on the market. Several servers reporting more and more around 100k now.
The iron wire needed for the Ash and Bamboo is not that hard to find but the bronze(Ash) and brass(Bamboo) reels especially the one for the Ash can be a pain. I'd just suggest do what you can and if using the lvl1 Kmart rod is frustrating you then work on something else till you find one for sale you can afford or I or someone else makes one.
Bamboo:
Optimal Rank: 22
Attributes
Gathering 40
Output 36
Scanning 31
*Attack 18
*Magic Potency 18
*Accuracy 252
*Magic Accuracy 252
Seeing as how the Bamboo Fishing Rod still uses Hempen Bowstring and Iron Wire, I would say that those remain the same.
Bamboo Fishing Rod uses Brass Reel instead of the Bronze Reel, and it uses a Bone Fish Hook. I don't think the Gorge Hooks are used on reels, but for lures only.
I'd suggest trying:
Willow Branch, Willow Lumber, Bronze Reel/Brass Reel, Copper Hook/Brass Hook, Hempen Bowstring, Iron Wire.
I would rather have some universal fishing gear than having to continually buy or make and repair new gear every few days or 3 or 4.   I like different gear/items but I wish they'd at least make the levels for that stuff farther apart so you get more use out of your time and gil you spent acquiring it or making it and not make it where it's only optimal if you are close to that items level.
I wear heavily damaged gear a lot as it's just too much to repair all the time, I dn't have the inventory space and I don't wanna trek back to my npc all the time to get mats and I don't want to continually upgrade gear or buy new fishing gear every few levels.  lol.. maybe this is a sign telling me I wont be playing this game for long.
I dn't mind crafting but it's just kinda too much for me how they want you concentrate on crafting so much.
Just buy every other one. For instance, here is what I bought for body slot, with dodoskin jerkin being next item:
(start as fisher) 1 - Weathered Doublet Vest (Gathering +2)
(or buy this) 4 - Hempen Doublet Vest (Gathering +3)
(ignore) 10 - Frayed Cotton Doublet Vest (Gathering +6)
(ignore) 14 - Cotton Doublet Vest (Gathering +7)
(buy this) 17 - Sheepskin Jerkin (Gathering +10)
(ignore) 24 - Canvas Doublet Vest (Gathering +12)
(buy this) 27 - Dodoskin Jerkin (Gathering +15)
I'd actually rather have an item that favors BTN/MIN/FSH that has a little less stats.
Sadly those two item's don't favor fishing, which will mean ever at the optimal rank you won't ever get the full stats :/
A few equips I've noticed that arnt listed are the new range of feet and bodies.
Feet:
30 - Canvas Gaiters (Gathering +11, PIE +1)
40 - Velveteen Gaiters (Gathering +14, PIE +1)
50 - Linen Gaiters (Gathering +17, PIE +1)
Body:
25 - Vintage Coatee (Output +10)
30 - Canvas Coatee (Output +11)
35 - Moth-eaten Seneschal Coatee (Output +13)
40 - Velveteen Coatee (Output +15)
45 - Vintage Seneschal Coatee (Output +17)
50 - Linen Coatee (Output +18)
Great Guide Kida. Yes it is pretty good for the other DoL's also. Perhaps once finished up/edited it could be cross posted in the General DoL forum. There is a spreadsheet floating around too like this, and for the life of me I cannot find it at this time Crying .
(Follow up) I realized after that your intent is to make a fishing guide, but I feel maybe it would be best to make a overarching Gathering/DoL guide, and highlight items that focus on certain DoL's (Salets for Miners for example). After all, about 80% of this gear is for all DoL's with the other 20 focusing on one or two.
I like the look of the new items too, thanks Drar. I have the Moth-eaten Seneschal Coatee from a leve drop. Need to see if that works for my miner ^^.
What would be neat, and I know you like this type of thing Kida, is a webpage where you enter your DoL & Rank, and it spits out good DoL gear for say +/- 5 or 10 ranks. ^^ I have lots of ideas, just not the web page creating skills to make them. lol
/Cheers RP
